APEX COMMITTEE FOR TEACHING & LEARNING MEETS

H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) chaired  meeting of the apex committee for teaching and learning matters which was held here at council hall of the new campus.

The apex committee  recommended that Fall-Semester classes shall commence from Monday, 6th of September, 2021.

The committee recommended that virtual mode may also be adopted as per needs and policy of the university, general courses will be offered through virtual mode at faculty level. In this regard respective Deans of the faculties will present operational plan in due course.

The committee also recommended that mid-term and terminal examinations of all courses offered through virtual mode shall be conducted physically on-campus and will be considered as formal mode of teaching.

Worthy President advised that after merging of courses and adopting online mode of teaching at faculty level, the respective Deans shall ensure that courses offered on part time teaching are in line with the real need of faculty. A committee under the chairmanship of Vice President (Academics) will supervise the course allocation on part time teaching basis while, hiring of visiting faculty shall be made with proper care and as per university rules.

H. E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President IIUI addressing the apex committee, vowed that academic excellence is our top priority and emphasized to achieve the lofty goals the IIUI’s Strategic Plan (2022-26) with an efficient pace.

The Vice President (R&E), Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed briefed the committee about the agenda and apprised that Worthy President IIUI has desired to hold a special meeting of apex committee to discuss course offering at MS / PhD level and general courses at undergraduate level in a more efficient and cost effective way by keeping in view of quality concerns, space considerations and financial ramifications.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Shuja also briefed the members that recommendations of Vice Presidents and all deans of the faculties were shared with the President, IIUI.

The meeting was also attended by Vice President (Academics), Professor Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Vice President, (A&F), Prof. Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, Deans of the Faculties, Director, QAD, Director Academics, Incharge (Examinations), Incharge (IT), members of the apex Committee and other relevant officials.

Prof. Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Vice President (Academics), shared the statistics about the general courses offered in the last semester and highlighted issues related to space allocation, teachers training and evaluation method.

Prof. Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, Vice President (A&F) briefed the committee about present financial aspects and shared measures taken by the administration regarding admissions before the start of Fall-Semester.
