FETEX is organized by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DECE), Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) since 2010. It is a nationwide event that aims to bridge the gap between academia and real-life challenges by bringing together companies, professionals and students on one platform. It will inspire participants to work independently to improve their intellectual skills. This event is designed to encourage participants to push the boundaries of traditional learning methods and develop skills to think in new ways. Teams and individual participants are invited from various universities, colleges and schools across Pakistan to compete with the best young minds. With the theme “Where Excellence Gets Engineered”, FETEX-23 provides a platform for young people to demonstrate their technological skills, get a chance to interact with other bright minds and enjoy some moments in extracurricular activities. The two day event is scheduled to be held from March 14-15, 2023. We invite your institute to participate in this event. The list of events in FETEX-23 is give below.

2.    General Instructions:

  1. Only male undergraduate students are eligible to participate in FETEX-23.
  2. Participants must be enrolled in a recognized college/institute in Pakistan, irrespective of their field of study.
  3. Participants must familiarize themselves with the rules of the respective competition before filling the entry form for their respective event.
  4. If a student is an event leader or usher in an event of FETEX-23, he cannot participate in that particular event. However, he may participate in other events where he is not part of the organizing team.
  5. Participants should bring their CNICs, when they come.
  6. It is not possible to exchange a participant of a team after registration.
  7. Participants are asked to stay in contact with the organizers.
  8. Prize money, shields and certificates will be presented to the winners and second-place teams at the FETEX-23 closing ceremony.
  9. No TA / DA will be awarded to participating teams.
  10. Discipline must be observed during the competition. Any disturbance or violence will result in disqualification from the competition.
  11. The registration fee is non-refundable and the deadline for registration is March 13, 2023.
  12. These rules can be changed by the FETEX-23 committee if necessary.

3.    Registration Process and Deposit of Registration Fee:

Registration for FETEX-32 will be open beginning March 6, 2023. All participants are requested to duly complete the registration form at the following link.

The registration fee can be paid at the registration desk on campus before filling out the registration form. In this case, a cash receipt will be issued to the participants. The snapshot of the cash receipt should be uploaded at the time of registration. Note:

  1. The event supervisors are the central persons responsible for the smooth organization and assessment of their events.
  2. Event heads are responsible for the registration and management of their events.
  3. Organizers/ushers are responsible for providing full support to event supervisors and event heads before and during their respective events.

  5. In case of overlap between two or more events, participants may contact the Incharge FETEX-23.

6.    Perks for Ambassadors of FETEX-23:

  • If an Ambassador brings three (03) teams to FETEX-23, 100% of the fee for an event of his choice will be waived.
  • If an Ambassador brings five (05) teams to FETEX-23, 100% of the fee for two events of his choice will be waived.
  • The Ambassador, who brings maximum number of teams in FETEX-23, will be awarded with “Best Ambassador Award”.
  • Certificates will also be awarded to all ambassadors.

7.    Speed Wiring Competition:

You think you know circuits? Prove it in the speed wiring competition, where teams are put to the test in a race against time.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. A maximum of two (02) participants are allowed on a team.
  2. The competition will be held in two Rounds if the number of participating teams exceeds 10.
  3. In Round 1, 30 MCQs will be asked from the areas of circuit analysis and electronic circuit design. The top 10 teams will be shortlisted for Round 2.
  4. In Round 2, the shortlisted teams will participate in the speed-wiring competition.
  5. The time duration for Round 1 is 30 minutes, while Round 2 is 40 minutes.
  6. If less than 10 teams participate, only one Round will be held.
  7. Scores will be awarded based on cleanliness of work, operating condition, and time to complete the circuit.
  8. Use of irrelevant material or violations of the rules will result in disqualification of the team.
  9. Cell phones are not allowed during the event.
  10. Supporting materials (pens and sheets) will be provided.
  11. The decision of the judges is final.

Prizes:

  • The winning team is awarded a cash prize, a shield and a certificate.
  • The second place team will receive a cash prize and certificates only.

8.    Arduino Programming and Interfacing Competition:

You think you are logical? Do you feel like programming? Then enter the digital age and participate in the Arduino programming and interfacing competition to solve real-world problems with Arduino and compete with other students.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. A maximum of two (02) participants are allowed in a team.
  2. PCs with software installed (Proteus, etc.) will be provided. Teams are encouraged to bring their own laptops, but there should be no relevant support material on their laptops.
  3. Use of irrelevant material or violation of the rules will result in disqualification of the team.
  4. Programs should be written for the Arduino microcontroller only. Simulation should be done on Proteus.
  5. Teams must bring their USB hard drives to store their code and simulations to avoid inconvenience in case of any power failures.
  6. Hardware kits will be provided for implementation. Details on the registers to be used will also be provided.
  7. The competition will be held in two Rounds if the number of participating teams exceeds 10.
  8. In Round 1, 30 MCQs will be posed from Arduino microcontroller theory. The top 10 teams will be shortlisted for Round 2.
  9. In Round 2, two tasks will be set: A basic level programming task (15 minutes) and an advanced level task (25 minutes).
  10. The time duration for Round 1 is 30 minutes, while Round 2 is 40 minutes.
  11. If there are less than 10 participating teams, only one Round will be conducted.
  12. Points will be awarded based on coding logic, task and early completion.
  13. The decision of the judges is final.

  • The second place team will receive a cash prize and certificates only.

9.    Speed Programming Competition:

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Each team consists of a maximum of two (02) participants.
  2. Each team must bring a laptop to participate in the competition.
  3. Internet connection is not allowed on the laptop.
  4. Time constraints will be strictly adhered to.
  5. The teams will be provided with tasks.
  6. The tasks must be solved compiled and executed according to the requirements
  7. Programming can be done in C and C++.
  8. The decision of the judges is final and cannot be appealed.

Prizes:

  • The winning team is awarded a cash prize, a shield and a certificate.
  • The second place team will receive a cash prize and certificates only.

10.  Line Tracking Robotic Competition:

Objectives:

Contestants must build a fast line-tracking robot capable of tracking lines from the start line to the finish line according to the contest rules.

Game Field:

Measurements are in mm, Line thickness is 20mm.

Robot Specifications:

  1. The robot must move autonomously and be started with a push button. Wireless/wired remote control is not allowed.
  2. The size of the robot must not exceed 30cm (length) x 25cm (width) x 25cm (height).
  3. The total weight of the robot, including its power source and other parts, must not exceed 3kg.
  4. Integrated image sensors, such as cameras, are not allowed.
  5. All robots must be designed and manufactured in a professional manner so that no damage to persons or the playing field can occur.
  6. Robots that are not manufactured according to the rules will not be allowed to participate.

Game Rules:

  1. A maximum of three (03) team members may register for the event.
  2. All teams are encouraged to decorate their robots to reflect the culture, aesthetics, and style of their respective educational institution.
  3. Team members must be ready on the field 5 minutes prior to each scheduled match.
  4. The robot must start behind the starting line and move along the designated route until it touches the finish line.
  5. Each team has 3 attempts to achieve the fastest time. The fastest time from the three attempts will be counted as the team’s final time.
  6. If the robot goes off the track, it may be restarted up to three times, but the timer will not be stopped. The robot must be behind the starting line when it is restarted.
  7. All decisions about game play and timing are at the discretion of the juries.
  8. The juries may announce new rules or decisions on issues not mentioned in the rules and regulations.
  9. The organizer reserves the right to change the rules and regulations.

Disqualification:

  1. If a team fails to show up for robot inspection five minutes before the start of a game.
  2. If a team’s robot does not meet specifications or a team intentionally cheats, obstructs others, or damages the playing field, it will result in disqualification.

Winning the Game:

  1. Team rankings will be determined based on the team’s final (fastest) time.
  2. In the event of a tie, the team’s next best time from the three attempts will be used.
  3. If no team completes the task, the winner will be determined according to the following rules:
  • Maximum number of points scored by the team (A = 10, B = 2.5A, C = 5A, D = 7.5A).
  • Number of attempts (5 points are deducted for each retry).
  • Line tracking ability and stability.

Prizes:

  • The second place team will receive a cash prize and certificates only.

11.  PCB Designing Competition:

Think you have your way of designing circuit boards? Come prove where teams are put to the test in a race against time.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. A maximum of two (02) participants are allowed per team.
  2. All equipment will be provided by the FETEX-23 organizing team, except laptops or PCs.
  3. Participants should have their own laptops/PCs with Proteous software installed.
  4. There are 4 rounds in this competition.
  5. In Round 1, participants will be given a schematic to draw using Proteus/ ISIS. The duration of round 1 is 25 minutes. The best teams will be shortlisted for Round 2 by the judges according to the criteria set by them.
  6. In Round 2, teams have to convert the schematic into PCB layout using Proteus/ ARES. The duration of round 2 is 25 minutes. The best teams will be selected by the judges for Round 3 based on the criteria set by them.
  7. In Round 3, teams will be provided with the necessary equipment/materials for printing and etching. The duration of Round 3 is 50 minutes. The best teams will be shortlisted for Round 4 based on the criteria set by the judges.
  8. In Round 4, teams will be provided with the necessary equipment/materials for drilling, soldering and testing to produce the final version of the PCB. The duration of Round 4 is 50 minutes. The winner and runner-up will be determined in this round.
  9. Cell phones are not allowed during the event.
  10. The use of irrelevant material or violations of the rules will result in the disqualification of the team.

The decision of the jury is final.

  • The second place team will receive a cash prize and certificates only.

12.  Mini Project Exhibition and Competition:

Rules and Regulations:

  • A maximum of four (04) participants are allowed on a team.
  • Only male students may exhibit and represent their project at the Men’s Campus.
  • Students from all classes/semesters may participate in the mini project exhibit and competition.
  • The project must consist of hardware; only software-based projects will not be accepted into the competition.
  • Any project team that avoids safety measures will be eliminated from the competition.
  • The project must be from electrical engineering, electronics, communications, computer systems, mechatronics, or another relevant field. Projects not from these fields must be approved in advance by the official FETEX-23 organizing committee.
  • Students who are not from International Islamic Islamabad (IIUI) must provide complete information and apply for an admission pass at the time of registration. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to present their project on IIUI premises.
  • Prior approval is mandatory if exceptional/special arrangements are required.
  • The organizing committee is not responsible for any damage to the project of the participating teams.
  • No one is allowed to influence the decision of the judges/evaluators.
  • The decision of the judges is final and cannot be appealed.

  • The second place team will receive a cash prize and certificates only.

13.  Math Genius:

The math genius competition offers students a fair chance to show and improve their mathematical skills.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. A maximum of two (02) participants are allowed on a team.
  2. There will be 25 MCQs from mathematics.
  3. Each team has a maximum of 40 minutes.
  4. Each correct answer will be awarded four 4 points.
  5. Incorrect attempts will be scored negatively; each incorrect answer will be scored -2 points.
  6. Use of irrelevant material or violation of the rules will result in disqualification of the team.
  7. Sharing calculators with other teams is not allowed. Each team must bring its own calculator.
  8. Cell phones are not allowed during the competition.
  9. The decision of the judges is final.

  • The second place team will receive a cash prize and certificates only.

14.  Quiz Competition:

Quiz competition consists of three Rounds:

  1. A written test (basic math and science skills, spatial skills (reading shapes/figures), nature/object class identification, analogy/logic, common sense, etc.).
  2. A visual test (pictorial similarities in two pictures or questions from videos, etc.).
  3. A general knowledge test.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Each team should consist of a maximum of two (02) members.
  2. Members of a team cannot be exchanged after registration.
  3. Participants may come from different academic institutions, and there is no age restriction.
  4. Once the event has started, participants are not allowed to leave the room.
  5. No smart phones, smart watches or other internet-enabled devices may be used during the event.
  6. Anyone not abiding by the above rules will be disqualified from the event.
  7. The decision of the judges is final.

Prizes:

  • The second place team will receive a cash prize and certificates only.

15.  Soft Skills Competition:

15.1.     Presentation:

The competition is held in two Rounds. In the first Round, students present a topic of their own choosing (after prior approval of the topic), while the best teams move on to the next Round, where they are assigned a random topic to present on the spot without visual aids.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Only individuals may participate in the contest.
  2. Participants are not allowed to leave the room once the event has started.
  3. Participants may bring their own laptops, multimedia will be provided on site.
  4. Anyone who does not comply with the above rules will be disqualified from the event.
  5. The decision of the jury is final.

Prizes:

  • The winning team is awarded a cash prize, a shield and a certificate.
  • The second place team will receive a cash prize and certificates only.

15.2.     Content Writing:

We are looking for talented writers to create compelling and engaging content on a specific topic. Whether you are an experienced writer or a newbie, we encourage you to submit your best work for a chance to win our grand prize.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Only individuals may participate in the contest.
  2. Participants are not allowed to leave the room once the event has started.
  3. Participants may bring their own laptops, multimedia will be provided on site.
  4. Anyone who does not comply with the above rules will be disqualified from the event.
  5. The decision of the jury is final.

15.3.     Qirat Competition:

We invite all talented reciters to participate in this event and present their beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran. This competition is an opportunity for individuals to show their love for the Quran while encouraging others to improve their recitation skills. Our judges will be looking for reciters who can demonstrate accurate and melodious recitation, correct pronunciation of Arabic words, correct recitation rules (Tajweed) and a good overall presentation.

  1. Only individuals may participate in the contest.
  2. The decision of the jury is final.

Prizes:

16.  Content Creation Competition:

16.1.     Videography Competition:

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Only individuals may participate in the contest.
  2. Each participant must bring their equipment to record and edit the video.
  3. Entries must be in the form of a video up to 2 minutes in length.
  4. The entries must be submitted within the given deadline via the link provided by the organizers.
  5. The entries will be judged on the creativity, originality and technical skills of the participants.
  6. The decision of the jury is final.

Ideas for Videography Competition:

  • Invisible beauty: create a short film that highlights the beauty of something that is often overlooked or forgotten.
  • The power of nature: Create a short film that captures the beauty and power of the natural world.
  • The road less traveled: Document a journey through a place few people have seen.

16.2.     Photography Competition:

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Only individuals are allowed to participate in the contest
  2. All photos must be taken on the day of the event.
  3. Each participant must bring their own equipment for taking and editing the pictures.
  4. All photos must be submitted in original and digital format.
  5. All photos must be suitable for a general audience and must not contain obscene or offensive content.
  6. All photos must be submitted by the specified deadline.
  7. The decision of the jury is final.

17.     MATLAB Guru:

This competition will test the capabilities of MATLAB. Basic computational techniques, algorithm design methods, and hardware interfaces can be tested. In this competition, teams are given a task by the judges. The MATLAB codes are related to any topic in electronics, computers, and software (e.g., signal processing, control, diagrams, etc.). The team with the highest score according to the evaluation criteria is declared the winner.
Rules and Regulations:

  1. A maximum of two (02) members are allowed on a team.
  2. Each team may use only one PC.
  3. Each team may bring only one blank sheet and one pen.
  4. Collaboration with other teams is not allowed. Use of cell phones, internet and/or books during the competition is not allowed.

18.     E-Gaming (PUBG):

General Rules and Regulations:

  1. This is a PC based competition.
  2. All games are played on an online server (SEA) provided by the game client.
  3. A minimum of three (03) players are required to start the game.
  4. No third party may live stream/broadcast the games or use any content from the games without written permission from the event management.
  5. Each participant must show respect to the referees and other participants. Insults and unfair or disrespectful behavior towards others will not be tolerated and will result in disqualification.
  6. All information provided by participants must be valid; if it is found to be false, it will result in disqualification.
  7. Players who have a PUBG game ban on their Steam page ID will not be allowed to participate. However, this does not apply to other game bans.
  8. Any player/team caught cheating by the organizing team will result in immediate disqualification.
  9. In all other disputes, the decision of the event management is final and binding.
  10. The decision of the referees is final and irrevocable.
  11. Each participant acknowledges the right of the administration to change the rules and regulations at any time and without notice.

19.     Outdoor Competitions:

19.1.     Mini Cricket:

Rules and Regulations:

  1. A maximum of five (05) members are allowed in a team.
  2. This is a knockout tournament.
  3. There are 3 overs in a single innings of the game. However, there will be 5 overs in the last game of the tournament.
  4. Over limit = 1 over / player.
  5. No ball, wide ball and fast bowling will cost one run each.
  6. Over runs will be added in the scorecard.
  7. In case of a tie, a super over match will be played.
  8. The decision of the umpires will be considered final, no disputes will be allowed.

Prizes:

  • The winning team is awarded a cash prize, a shield and a certificate.
  • The second place team will receive a cash prize and certificates only.

19.2.     Futsal:

Rules and Regulations:

  1. A maximum of five (05) members are allowed on a team.
  2. This is a knockout tournament.
  3. Total time per game is 20 minutes (10 minutes/half time).
  4. Long shots are not allowed.
  5. In case of misconduct towards an official or a player, cards will be distributed.
  6. If the score is tied, five penalty kicks will decide the game.
  7. The decision of the referees is considered final, disputes are not allowed.

  • The second place team will receive a cash prize and certificates only.

19.3.     Badminton:

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Only single matches will be played.
  2. This is a knockout tournament.
  3. To score a point, the shuttlecock must be hit inside the opponent’s court.
  4. If the shuttlecock hits the net or lands out of bounds, the opponent scores a point.
  5. Standard rules (best of 3 games, with 10 points per game).
  6. The decision of the referee is final, disputes are not allowed.
