INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON TRANSITION OF TRADITIONAL UNIVERSITIES TO ONLINE MODE (ICTTUOM)

The foundation of the University was laid on the first day of the 15th Hijrah Century, Muharram 1, 1401 (November 11, 1980). This landmark of the beginning of the new century symbolizes the aspirations and hopes of the Muslim Ummah for an Islamic renaissance. The desire is to produce scholars and practitioners, imbued with Islamic learning, character and personality, capable to meet the economic, social, political, and intellectual needs of modern times.

The mission of the Directorate of Distance Learning is to provide a challenging learning environment infused with Islamic values and research based practices to produce balanced, Harmonious educational leaders by providing education through dual mode, who are proactively motivated towards innovation, research and development of nationals and international community.
 
Introduction of the Conference
Directorate of Distance Learning and Faculty of Education, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Pakistan Science Foundation and IRD are organizing an International Conference on Transition of Traditional Universities to Online Mode (ICTTUOM) on May 10-11, 2023 in Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Mosque Campus, IIUI.

Though we are living in the 21st century, but still there are many barriers in the formal education system. Therefore, Distance and online learning is a modern way of learning allowing students to study within their own space and time The world renowned universities are devoted to promote excellence in education through the establishment of distance learning centers. The closure of all educational institutions due to COVID-19 pandemic presented an unprecedented risk to the education and disrupted learning for almost 40 million students in Pakistan. Under these circumstances different learning apps e.g Learning Management System, Google Class, Cell-Ed, Ustad Mobile, Kolibri, Alison, EdX, Udemy, Room to Read, Dingtalk and many more such apps facilitated educational institutions to continue classes and provide psychosocial support to the learners from play group to higher education level. Briefly, distance education modes have been growing rapidly worldwide. After COVID-19 breakthrough even the traditional universities shifted to the online mode. This international conference aims at generation, dissemination, advancement and application of knowledge at local, regional and international levels regarding the transition of Traditional Universities to Online mode.

This international seminar will provide a platform to the academicians, professionals, scholars, administrators, policy makers, curriculum developers and researchers to gather the experiences based on research based knowledge and furnish valuable recommendations to cope with the challenges of distance education/online learning which traditional universities are facing.
