A seminar on “Contemporary Islamic World: Problems, Prospects & Opportunities” was held on 16th August, 2009 at Skyways Restaurant G.T. Road Kharian in collaboration with Kharian Press Club. A strong audience attended the seminar including Doctors, Lawyers, College and School teachers, journalists, religious scholars, politicians, social workers, businessmen and general public. Professor Dr Mumtaz Ahmad, executive Director IRD, Professor Dr Nizamuddin VC UOG, Dr Iftekhar Iqbal Assistant Professor University of Dhaka, Dr Junaid Ahmad from LUMS and Muhammad Nadeem, President Kharian Press Club, addressed the audience. Dr Mumtaz Ahmad said that unity in Muslim world can overcome all problems faced by the Muslim world. There are many challenges for them as compared to opportunities. He added that those who have resources are not aware of their use and those who are well aware have no resources. He suggested that punctuality and fair play is necessary for the success of Muslims. Dr Nizamuddin said that we need to develop research environment in our universities. In this way we can compete with the modern world. He stressed the need of punctuality and love for everyone. Dr Iftekhar Iqbal said that there was a need to make an Islamic Union like European Union. Dr Junaid Ahmad pointed out to establish the society as per Quran and Sunnah and there should be justice for all. President Kharian Press Club Mian Muhammad Nadeem thanked the guests and audience.
