IIUI Holds Fourth Meeting of Special Monitoring Committee on CMS Optimization

The Fourth Meeting of the Special Monitoring and Supervisory Committee for the project “Optimization and Support Services for the Odoo-Based Campus Management System (CMS)” was held at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Vice President (Research & Enterprise).

During the meeting, the Director IT, Mr. Zulqarnain Hashmi, briefed the Committee on the progress of the Student Life Cycle (SLC) module, outlining the development status, division of tasks among technical teams, and timelines for completion of key components aimed at strengthening the University’s academic management system.

The Committee was informed that challan forms for the Spring Semester 2026 have been successfully generated despite operational challenges related to result submissions and batch promotions, which resulted in delays in the course registration process.

Mr. Hashmi also presented a newly implemented solution enabling the CMS to reflect the status of MS students who have completed their degree requirements as “Degree Completed,” along with the inclusion of their viva examination and degree completion dates.

To streamline administrative processes, the Committee constituted a sub-team to oversee reconciliation of challan forms with students’ fee records in coordination with the Fee Section. The team will also disseminate information regarding the procedures and stakeholders involved in the MS degree completion and clearance process.

The Committee also reviewed the progress of the sub-committee constituted during the third meeting under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Nadeem Ahmed Sheikh, which is working on various ERP modules. The sub-committee highlighted technical and operational bottlenecks, including limited support from the KICS technical team.

In response, the Chair advised the Director IT and the Convener of the sub-committee to explore additional support through the upcoming faculty hiring in the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FCIT). Dr. Salma Imtiaz, Chairperson Department of Software Engineering, was also requested to extend faculty support, while the Director IT was encouraged to optimally utilize the existing technical team and interns to ensure timely completion of CMS optimization tasks.

The meeting concluded with the Committee reaffirming its commitment to expedite CMS optimization for both Student Life Cycle and ERP functionalities in line with IIUI’s objective of strengthening digital governance and academic administration through an integrated campus management system.
