IIUI President Participates in HEC Meeting on Higher Education Reforms

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, Acting Rector and President of the International Islamic University Islamabad, attended an important meeting of vice chancellors and heads of higher education institutions convened by the Higher Education Commission Pakistan on Friday at the HEC Headquarters H-9 Islamabad. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar (S.I) the Chairman HEC, and brought together leaders of universities from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and nearby regions to deliberate on key issues concerning the higher education sector.

During the meeting, participants discussed matters related to facilitation of higher education institutions, enhancement of research activities, improvement in global university rankings, teachers’ training, classroom equipment, and strengthening student–teacher relations. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed actively participated in the deliberations and endorsed initiatives aimed at improving the quality and effectiveness of higher education in the country.

Highlighting the importance of strategic planning in academic development, Dr. Alahmed suggested that new educational programs or disciplines should not be approved without a clear business plan. He emphasized that academic programs must be aligned with market needs and should focus on producing graduates equipped with skills relevant to contemporary economic and professional demands.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment among university leaders and the HEC to work collectively for strengthening Pakistan’s higher education system through improved policy coordination, academic quality, and institutional development.
