Shaoor by Al-QAWI Steels Selects Interns, Approves Industry-Funded FYPs under IIUI’s “Project to Product” Initiative

The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has entered the second phase of its Industrial Linkages and Commercialization drive, “Project to Product,” a strategic initiative aimed at bridging academia with industry through applied research and innovation.
Under this initiative, Cohort-II selections of the Shaoor by Al-QAWI Steels program were conducted at the IIUI Business Incubation Center. The activity was organized by the Industrial Linkages and Commercialization Working Group of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), led by its Head, Dr. Bashir Ahmad, and attended by CEO Shaoor, Engr. Jawad Janjua.
During the session, 6th-semester students from the Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) and the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FCIT) presented their Final Year Project (FYP) proposals before an industry evaluation panel headed by Engr. Jawad Janjua. The panel assessed the projects based on feasibility, innovation, and industrial relevance. A number of proposals were selected for internships and industry funding, enabling students to refine their research in real-world settings.
Faculty members present on the occasion included Dr. Rukhsana Tariq, Dr. Islam Zada, and Dr. Zahid Khan, who appreciated the collaborative model between IIUI and industry partners.
The session concluded with the selection of high-potential projects, strategic recommendations for Cohort-III, and a group photograph. The “Project to Product” initiative was highlighted as an important step toward strengthening academia–industry collaboration, transforming research into viable products, and nurturing entrepreneurial skills among IIUI students in alignment with the University’s broader vision of academic excellence and innovation-driven education.
