The Alumni Office of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), led by Dr. Taimia Sabiha, Deputy Incharge Alumni Office, welcomed a delegation from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Republic of the Philippines.
Dr. Taimia briefed the visiting alumni on recent initiatives, outreach efforts, and developments of the Alumni Office. She also announced the establishment of the IIUI Alumni Chapter in the Philippines, terming it an important step toward strengthening IIUI’s global alumni network and reconnecting graduates across regions.
The delegation included prominent IIUI alumni: Esmael W. Ebrahim, Bangsamoro Director General, Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, and Hisham Nando, Vice Governor, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. Both shared their appreciation for the university’s continued efforts to expand alumni engagement and expressed commitment to supporting future activities.
During their visit, the delegation toured the International Institute of Islamic Economics, where they interacted with faculty members. Prof. Dr. Arshad Ali Bhatti, Chairperson, School of Economics, briefed them on the institute’s academic vision, programs, and contributions. The delegates acknowledged IIIE’s strong reputation in research and the achievements of its alumni serving in various global roles, including in the Philippines.
The delegation also met Prof. Dr. Ali Khodran Alomari, Head of the Department of Shariah, Faculty of Shariah & Law, and visited the Faculties of Arabic and Usuluddin. Discussions focused on areas of mutual interest such as student exchange, academic cooperation, and institutional linkages.
The visit concluded with the delegation reaffirming their resolve to support IIUI’s efforts in enhancing international academic partnerships and strengthening the newly announced IIUI Alumni Chapter in the Philippines.
