Islamabad — The Faisal Masjid Islamic Centre of Dawah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), organized a one-day training workshop for teachers of Hifz-ul-Quran titled “Teaching Hifz-ul-Quran with Consideration of Children’s Psychology.”
The workshop aimed to guide teachers on understanding children’s psychological needs and adopting effective teaching approaches. Thirty-five Hifz teachers from religious institutions in Rawalpindi and Islamabad participated in the training, which consisted of two sessions. The first session included panel discussions that produced several practical suggestions.
In the second session, Dr. Azeem Ullah, Clinical Psychologist at Hayat Rehab Clinic Islamabad, emphasized that unnecessary strictness when a child struggles to memorize lessons can harm memory and confidence. He noted that harsh behavior, whether at home or school, leads to fear and discouragement among children, affecting their learning motivation. He stressed that children must feel respected and secure, as a sense of belonging builds a complete personality.

Dr. Atif Iqbal, Chairman of Quranic Studies at Al-Huda International Islamabad, stated that strong institutions are recognized by their teachers rather than their administrators. He urged teachers to serve as role models for their students and society. He added that discipline, regular memorization schedules, and understanding students’ IQ levels and temperaments are vital to successful Quranic education. He also highlighted the importance of communication with parents, maintaining daily diaries, and focusing on children’s diet for effective learning.
At the conclusion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, Director General of Dawah Academy, appreciated the participants and the organizing team for holding a valuable and distinctive workshop. He said that improvement in the Hifz system requires a comprehensive approach that addresses children’s mental and emotional development. He emphasized that teachers’ responsibilities extend beyond instruction to include nurturing and psychological care, which can make Quran memorization a lifelong source of guidance.
Dr. Ilyas thanked Dr. Qari Zia-ur-Rehman, In-charge Faisal Masjid Islamic Centre, and his team for organizing the program, which was hosted by Dr. Muhammad Zaheer.
