A certificate distribution and appreciation ceremony was held at the office of the President, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, to honour 10 faculty members who have been recognized among the world’s top two percent scientists for the year 2024.
The global ranking, compiled by Prof. John Ioannidis and his team at Stanford University, USA, is released annually in September. It highlights the top two percent of scientists across the world from a pool of more than 230,000 researchers representing diverse disciplines.
The IIUI faculty members included in this year’s prestigious list are: Prof. Dr. Rahmat Ellahi, Dr. Tahir Mehmood, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Zeeshan, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sajid, Prof. Dr. Nasir Ali, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Nadeem Ahmed, Prof. Dr. Tariq Javed, Prof. Dr. Shamaila Sajjad, Dr. Ambreen Afsar, and Dr. Bushra Uzair.
Speaking on the occasion, IIUI President Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed congratulated the faculty members and lauded their contribution to the university’s academic and research excellence. “It is a matter of great pride that our scientists have brought fame to the university and set an example for others to follow,” he said.
He reiterated the university’s commitment to a student-centric approach and expressed resolve to make IIUI a truly international hub of learning. The President also encouraged faculty members to pursue maximum research grants and emphasized ongoing efforts toward international collaborations and competitive research funding.
Vice President (Research and Enterprise), Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed highlighted that such achievements significantly contribute to enhancing the university’s reputation globally. He added that IIUI is prioritizing research facilitation and infrastructure development to support faculty in their scholarly pursuits.
The honoured faculty members expressed gratitude for the recognition and appreciated the encouragement extended by the university leadership. They reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the vision of the IIUI President and contributing to the institution’s growth in research and innovation.
