IIUI Reviews Female Students’ Transport Issues; More Buses to Be Added

A meeting chaired by Vice President (Administration & Finance), Prof. Dr. Abdul Raheman, was held to address the transport concerns of female students at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The meeting was attended by Dr. Amna Mahmood, In-Charge (Female Campus), Mr. Hassan Aftab (Director Transport), Dr. Inam ul Haq (Director Admin and Works), Mr. Naveed Ehtesham (Director Academics), Mr. Sajjad Siddiqi (Additional Director, Female Campus), and other officials.

The participants deliberated on the pressing challenges faced by female students, including overcrowding and overloaded buses. Taking cognizance of the urgency to facilitate them effectively, the meeting adopted a multipronged strategy aimed at both immediate relief and long-term sustainability. It was decided that additional buses will be inducted into the system without delay, while existing routes will be reorganized to reduce congestion. The committee also resolved to introduce monitoring mechanisms to ensure that female students travel in comfort and safety.
This constructive development has taken place as an outcome of the meeting of the in-charges with the Vice President (A&F) held last week, which was followed by further deliberations and consultations with the Director Admin and Vice President In-Charge Female Campus regarding the students’ issues. After careful deliberations and prompt action, tangible measures have now been taken in the light of feedback received from the students as well as from in-charges and chairpersons of their respective departments.
The Vice President (A&F), after meeting the chairs of different departments, underscored that the primary objective was to resolve the transport issues. Following this, he coordinated with the directors, including the Director of Administration. Acting upon his instructions, Dr. Inam ul Haq (Director Admin) and Dr. Amna Mahmood (In-Charge Female Campus) worked in close cohesion to create a more balanced timetable. This step is aimed at reducing the load on buses, distributing travel more equitably, and ensuring that female students experience safer, smoother commutes.

This initiative follows the recent inauguration ceremony where the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan handed over four new buses as a gift to IIUI. Building upon that milestone, the present meeting reaffirms the university’s unwavering commitment to prioritize the needs of its female students. IIUI leadership has emphasized that transport improvements will continue to evolve in line with the pressing needs of the students so that they may be addressed effectively and in a timely manner.
