IIUI Shariʻah Academy Holds Islamic Law Orientation Courses in AJK

The Shariʻah Academy of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized Islamic Law Orientation Courses for the legal community in Neelum and Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as part of its outreach program.

In Neelum, the course was held in collaboration with the judiciary and the District Bar Association and was attended by judges, qazis, lawyers, police officers, and senior district administration officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram, Director General of Shariʻah Academy, thanked District Qazi Abdul Sakoor, District and Sessions Judge Abdul Wahid Mughal, and Bar President Basharat Ahmad Mir for their cooperation.

In Muzaffarabad, the course was arranged with the Central Bar and saw participation from over 60 lawyers. The concluding session was addressed by District and Sessions Judge Jahangir Jaral and District Qazi Mahfooz Sab. The Director General appreciated the support of the Central Bar’s leadership and the active involvement of participants.

Lectures and interactive sessions were led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram, Dr. Asadullah, Mr. Abdul Sakoor, and Hafiz Ahmad Waqas. Key topics included Sources and Principles of Shariʻah, Muslim Criminal Law, Family Law, Inheritance, Islamic Procedural Law, Advocacy, and Islamic provisions of Pakistan’s Constitution.

During the visit, the Director General also met the Registrar of the High Court of AJK and the Secretary General of the High Court Bar Association to discuss collaboration opportunities. The courses underscore the Academy’s commitment to building legal capacity and promoting understanding of Islamic law among professionals.
