The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) held a meeting of its Steering Committee presided over by President IIUI, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed.
The session focused on reviewing progress against action points from the previous meeting, with Director ORIC, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir, providing detailed updates to the committee.
President Syed emphasized the need for faculties to be actively engaged at the start of each semester and urged the dissemination of an activity calendar to streamline research and innovation efforts. The committee reinforced the importance of continuing training programs on research grant management and proposal preparation, highlighting the competitive landscape for securing research funding.
Key discussions included the finalization of IIUI’s Entrepreneurship Policy, which has been submitted to the Academic Council for approval, and ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of IIUI research journals’ editorial teams through collaborative workshops. The President stressed the necessity of providing faculty members with enhanced training, consultation, and exposure to improve grant acquisition success.
The meeting also included Prof. Dr. Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Dr. Fauzia Janjua, Dean of the Faculty of Languages & Literature, Peof. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Dean of Faculty of Sciences. Other attendees also included Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Faculty of Education, Engineer Khalid Ahmad, CTO of Taraz Tech, Dr. Mohammad Usman, CEO and Founder of ZATNAV (Pvt.) Ltd., Director (ORIC) FJWU Rawalpindi, Prof. , Dr. Noor Fatima from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Bashir Ahmed from the Department of Biological Sciences.
