The Department of Teacher Education at the Faculty of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), held a Digital Portfolio Presentation Session for PhD scholars enrolled in the course “Technology in Teacher Education.” The course is conducted by Dr. Fouzia Ajmal. The event provided a structured platform for doctoral students to share their understanding and practical use of technology in teaching through digital portfolios.
The session opened with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address and an explanation of the assignment objectives and evaluation process. Each participant presented highlights of their portfolio, which included summaries of course units, demonstrations of educational tools, and examples of multimedia elements such as instructional videos, infographics, and screenshots from digital platforms. A short interactive Q&A session followed each presentation to support academic dialogue and peer feedback.
Faculty members, including Dr. Zarina Akhtar, Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Dr. Asad Abbas Rizvi, Dr. Alina Raza, Dr. Humaira Akram, Dr. Fatima Maqsood, Dr. Fatima Batool, Ms. Bushra Rehman, and Ms. Rabia Mumtaz, reviewed the presentations and acknowledged the relevance of the portfolios to modern teaching practices. They noted that the students applied critical thinking and demonstrated practical skills essential for today’s educational settings. Faculty members observed that the use of digital tools was thoughtfully contextualized to local educational needs, reflecting a meaningful blend of theory and practice.
Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Incharge Programs at the Faculty of Education, appreciated the initiative and stated that such activities equip future educators with the mindset and skills to lead in digital learning environments. Dr. Fouzia Ajmal emphasized that the assignment was not only an evaluation method but also a learning process aimed at building professional confidence and reflective practice.
Chairperson of the Department of Teacher Education, Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, acknowledged the joint efforts of students and faculty. He underlined the importance of preparing educators who can respond to the evolving demands of contemporary classrooms.
The session reflected IIUI’s ongoing efforts to enhance academic quality, promote innovation in teaching, and advance digital competency among future education professionals.
