IIUI Alumni Canada Chapter Holds First Get-Together

The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Alumni Canada Chapter held its first official meeting in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

The event was organized by the Canada Chapter of the IIUI Alumni in coordination with the IIUI Alumni Office.

The initiative to activate the global alumni chapters, including the Canadian chapter, was undertaken by Dr. Faiz Rahim, In-Charge, Alumni Office, IIUI.

The event was planned and coordinated by Dr. G. H. Anjum, with support from a team of alumni members including Ejaz Nadeem, Dr. Rizwan Tahir, Dr. Farah Shamim, Amjad Maqsood, and Saood Nazir. Preparations were carried out through several virtual meetings.

The gathering began with a round-table introduction session. A discussion on the objectives of the alumni association followed, led by Ejaz Nadeem. Dr. Farah Shamim shared input on behalf of the female alumni and gathered feedback from the participants. Contributions were also acknowledged from Ms. Rabeea Mazhar for designing the event poster.

Alumni from various academic programs and graduation years attended the event, including some from the first graduating batch of the university. Participants agreed to further develop and expand the chapter by including alumni living in other parts of Canada.

They appreciated the efforts of Dr. Faiz Rahim in engaging alumni communities abroad.

The group discussed plans for future collaborations, networking, and professional development. A volunteers’ committee was formed during the event to facilitate the chapter’s organizational development.

The participants reached a consensus on holding regular in-person and virtual meetings. The event served as a platform to reconnect and set the foundation for a structured alumni network in Canada.
