The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) had the privilege of hosting Dr. Janet Harris, a renowned documentary filmmaker and academic from Cardiff University, UK, on April 21, 2025. Her visit marked a significant collaborative initiative between the Research Group of Humanities and Social Sciences (chaired by Dr. Munazza Yaqoob), the Critical Thinking Forum, Department of English (Focal Person: Dr. Sonia Irum), and the Department of Media and Communication Studies (Focal Persons: Dr. Inam ur Rahman and Dr. Amrat Haq).
Following a cordial welcome by senior faculty members, Dr. Harris engaged in a vibrant interactive session with students from both the Department of English and Media Studies. She shared captivating insights from her journey as a documentary filmmaker, emphasizing the power of storytelling through visual and narrative mediums. Her discussion explored how creative platforms—such as media, film, and literature—can transcend boundaries and serve as vital tools in cultural exploration and dialogue.
