A delegation from the Turkish Higher Education Commission visited the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and met with IIUI President Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed at his office in the new campus to discuss academic cooperation between the two sides.
The meeting was also attended by Turkish Education Counsellor Dr. Mehmet Toyran. During the interaction, both sides acknowledged the existing academic and cultural ties and discussed the potential for collaborative initiatives, including student and faculty exchange programs.
IIUI President Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed shared details of the university’s initiatives to support international students, noting that IIUI offers subsidized fees and scholarships. He further highlighted the university’s active participation in international academic frameworks such as the Erasmus Plus and Mevlana Exchange Programs, and ongoing bilateral research engagements in Türkiye by IIUI faculty.
He added that IIUI maintains links with alumni serving in key positions in Türkiye’s education and public sectors.
The delegation was led by Mr. Mustafa Efe, President of the International Relations Department of Türkiye’s Higher Education Commission. Mr. Efe appreciated the contributions of IIUI alumni in Türkiye’s education sector and expressed interest in enhancing academic collaboration. He informed about the launch of Türkiye’s international exchange programs and extended an invitation for IIUI’s participation.
Mr. Efe also emphasized the importance of academic institutions in reexamining historical narratives. He paid tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal, referring to him as a significant figure in the intellectual heritage of the Muslim world, and called for joint academic efforts to highlight the contributions of Muslim scholars.
