The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) convened the first meeting of its Institutional Quality Circle (IQC) in the Council Hall of the Administration Block. The session, chaired by IIUI President, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed brought together all Deans, Directors-General, and Directors to deliberate on key quality assurance measures.
A primary focus of the meeting was the revised framework of the Program Self-Assessment Guidelines (PSG-2023), recently implemented by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Participants engaged in discussions regarding its alignment with IIUI’s IQC framework, exploring strategies to enhance institutional quality and performance.
Additionally, the proposed committee for the Institutional Performance Report (IPR), suggested by the university’s Quality Assurance Department (QAD), was reviewed. It was decided that further consultations involving all Vice Presidents of IIUI and the Director of QAD would be conducted before granting formal approval.
Discussing the way forward, IIUI President Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed emphasized that every faculty must conduct a program self-assessment based on pre-set standards for at least one program. He underscored the importance of market competition and collective wisdom in enhancing institutional performance. The significance of the HEC scorecard in evaluating academic quality and institutional progress was also deliberated. Additionally, Dr. Shuja Syed highlighted the need to prioritize faculty recruitments to strengthen the university’s academic framework.
The IQC serves as a continuous quality assessment mechanism directly linked to the university’s institutional performance review through collective wisdom. It ensures that all university stakeholders, from governance to academic excellence, quality assurance, and entrepreneurship, actively contribute to strengthening institutional standards and advancing IIUI’s strategic objectives.
