WORKSHOP ON “ISLAMIC INTERNATIONAL LAW” CONCLUDES AT IIUI SHARIAH ACADEMY

A two-day workshop titled “Islamic International Law: Classical Concept and Contemporary Scenario” concluded at the Shariah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The event brought together more than 90 participants, including university and madrassah graduates and students, to discuss key issues related to Islamic international law.

The closing ceremony was addressed by Mr. Khurshid Nadim, Chairman of the National Rahmatul-lil-Alameen wa Khatam an-Nabiyyin Authority, who participated as the chief guest. In his keynote speech, Mr. Nadim outlined the challenges Muslims face at the international level and emphasized the importance of addressing modern issues by combining contemporary logic with Islamic theological perspectives.

The workshop, organized in collaboration with Jamia Muhammadi Sharif, Chiniot, included discussions led by experts in the field. Speakers addressed topics such as the Islamic law of war and peace, treaties during the time of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), human rights in Islamic and international law, the nature of relationships between Muslims and non-Muslims, and current challenges to Islamic international law.

The speakers included Prof. Dr. Atta Ullah Faizi, Director-General of the Shariah Academy; Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq, Director-General of the Islamic Research Institute; Barrister Zafrullah Khan, former Federal Minister of Law; Sahibzada Qamar ul Haq, Head of Jamia Muhammadi Sharif; Dr. Atta ul Mustafa, Lecturer at the Faculty of Shariah and Law; and Hafiz Ahmad Waqas, Lecturer at the Shariah Academy.

Participants noted that the workshop provided an opportunity to examine the relationship between classical Islamic concepts and contemporary legal issues. They also highlighted the need for continued dialogue and academic engagement to address emerging challenges in the field.
