IIUI: GREEN YOUTH MOVEMENT LAUNCHES TRAINING ON CLIMATE ACTION EDUCATION

The Prime Minister’s Green Youth Movement (GYM) has launched a four-day training program on Climate Action Education Curriculum and Digital Learning Portal at International Islamic University. The initiative is a collaboration with British Council Pakistan.

Ms. Noor Amna Malik, Managing Director National Academy for Higher Education-HEC, attended the event as chief guest. She emphasized the importance of equipping youth with knowledge and skills to address climate change.

The training aims to empower GYM focal persons and oversight committee members with advanced knowledge and practical skills in climate action education. This will enable them to effectively implement environmental initiatives in their universities.

The initiative seeks to create a robust network of informed and proactive youth dedicated to combating climate change. By cascading the training to Green Youth Movement clubs nationwide, GYM aims to promote a culture of sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The training program covers topics such as climate action education curriculum, digital learning portal, and innovative approaches to sustainable development. Participants will gain hands-on experience in developing effective environmental initiatives and projects.

The launch of this training program demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing climate change and promoting youth-led initiatives. By empowering young people with knowledge and skills, GYM aims to create a sustainable future for Pakistan.

 

FORGING GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS: IIUI AND NINGBOTECH UNIVERSITY INK MOU

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Department of Media & Communication Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) and the Department of Journalism and Communication, School of Media and Law, NingboTech University, Ningbo, China.

The MOU aimed to establish a collaborative partnership to facilitate the exchange of students and faculty members in the field of Media and Communication.

The signing ceremony took place at the new campus of IIUI, witnessed by Acting President Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar. Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal signed on behalf of IIUI, while Vice Dean, School of Media and Law & Vice Director, Digital Culture Innovation Center, Professor Wang Junwei signed for NingboTech University.

According to the MOU, both parties agreed  to develop education and teaching by sharing educational resources, joint student training, and student exchange and visits. They also vowed to work together to improve scientific research by initiating platform development, collaborative projects, and academic cooperation. The parties also agreed to develop faculty through discipline construction, visiting scholar programs, and faculty sharing.

Acting President IIUI Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar stated that the university aims to enhance its bilateral educational cooperation worldwide. He noted that the university already had a significant presence of Chinese students and this venture boosted research in social sciences. He said that the collaboration will open new avenues for research and academic cooperation between the two universities.

Professor Wang Junwei said that China and Pakistan have exemplary ties, with opportunities to enhance educational cooperation. He emphasized that faculty exchange programs and joint research ventures shared experiences and result-based research. He opined that the MOU will facilitate the exchange of ideas, expertise, and resources, ultimately contributing to the advancement of media and communication studies.

Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal briefed the Chinese delegation on the Faculty of Social Sciences and its research on various topics, including CPEC. He hoped that mutual cooperation between the departments allowed media researchers to make significant recommendations for education. He emphasized that there is a dire need to work on the anthropological aspect of CEPEC adding that this MoU will be a vital opportunity to work on this characteristic. He said that the partnership is expected to yield fruitful results in the future, strengthening the bond between IIUI and NingboTech University.

NCEAC TEAM CALLS ON ACTING PRESIDENT IIUI

The National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) team called on Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Acting President, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) at his office in the New Campus.

During the meeting, matters pertaining to accreditation and future of computing and information technology were discussed.

The meeting was also attended by Vice President Academics, Dr. Abdul Raheman and Vice President Research & Enterprise, Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed.

On the occasion , The Acting President apprising about the vision and recent years’ efforts for the university’s progress said that IIU takes the lead in approaching various accreditation bodies to come and inspect the respective degree programs for the purpose of improving the Quality of Education and accreditation.

The team, appreciating the hard work of the faculty shared valuable suggestions and hoped that the university will keep working for further improvements in the computing faculty.

 

ADMISSION PROCESS CONTINUES AT IIUI, LAST DATE JULY 29TH

International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has extended the last date to apply for admissions of fall semester in more than 100 programs of its 11 faculties till Monday, 29th of the July, 2024.

 

The university administration made this decision keeping in view the interest and requests of applicants to extend the date. The university has offered admissions in BS, MS and PhD programs of 11 faculties including Social Sciences, Sciences, Management Sciences, International institute for Islamic Economics, Arabic, Usuluddin, Languages and Literature, Engineering and Technology , Shariah and Law, Faculty of Computing and Information Technology and Faculty of Education.

 

The university administration made this decision keeping in view the interest and requests of applicants to extend the date. The details of the offered programs of fall 2024 admissions, eligibility criteria and fee structure can be seen on cms.iiu.edu.pk.

IIUI PRESIDENT ENDED NEPOTISM, PROMOTED MERIT: SPOKESPERSON

International Islamic University (IIUI) spokesperson Nasir Farid praised the university’s President, H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, for transforming the institution into a merit-based hub of excellence over the past four years, saying that Dr. Alotaibi eliminated nepotism and ensuring decisions were made solely on merit.

In a statement, Nasir Farid said that Dr. Alotaibi’s principled decisions discouraged grouping and made it possible for deserving individuals to access their rights. He cited the frequent holding of selection boards, where employees and teachers were promoted on merit. He said that President IIUI’s principled policy failed such elements whose agenda was personal interest.

 

He said that in the light of President IIUI’s vision, the university achieved significant success in research, teaching quality and infrastructural development among other fields.

Mentioning the strategic plan introduced by Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi , he said that President IIUI saved the university from a serious financial crisis, the most mentionable is the support provided by Saudi Arabia due to his efforts amid tough financial circumstances. Nasir Farid said that as a result of the tireless efforts of the President of University , the salaries of the last two months were managed from the Saudi fund.

The spokesperson said that the universities across the country are currently suffering from severe financial crisis and the same situation has also affected the IIUI , but it is the result of Dr. Hathal’s hard work and vision that even now the university is very competitive compared to other universities in the country and serving in better condition.

Speaking about a high-level meeting on admissions on Monday, the University spokesperson said that in this meeting, the Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors General and other senior officials of the University praised the leadership and vision of Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi and said that in result of his hard work and vision, the university has achieved a prominent position in the global rankings. They also praised saying that during his four-year tenure, along with the increase in faculty blocks, labs and infrastructure, the university has gotten high profile faculty members from Saudi Arabia’s Um ul Qura University, Madinah University and Imam Muhammad Ibn e Saud University, which they said is a matter of honor and distinction.

The spokesperson of the University also said that on Monday, in the male campus and female campus, four labs established with Saudi funding were inaugurated as a result of the vision of the president of University.

Discussing the students’ centric approach of the President IIUI, the Spokesperson IIUI said that the University also got a state of the art student facilitation center with Saudi funding that was hailed by HEC and the universities across the country. Nasir Farid said that due to the problems faced by universities across the country, there is a decrease in admissions, but due to the university’s best ranking, international identity and teaching performance, compared to all universities, still the first priority of the candidates is International Islamic University.

Referring to the University President’s vision of using technology and adopting modern teaching methods, the University spokesperson said that the university has entered a new era of digitalization by utilizing the campus management system while Dr. Hathal’s distance and online educational reforms have brightened the university’s future.

He said that during the presidency of Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, the cornerstone of his policy was priority of students centric approach, he abolished the atmosphere of politics from the university and for the first time in the history of the university, in the hostels, modern turnstile gates were installed and students were able to get hostel seats on merit. He said that for the students, President University has established international quality food streets in male and female campus by taking special measures.

The spokesperson of the University said that Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi gave priority to research and activated the journals of all the departments. He said the IIUI President personally guided the IIUI researchers and promoted the research relevant to the present challenges and societal issues to serve the country.

Nasir Farid said that the students who graduated from the International Islamic University are serving in renowned institutions around the world but they were never contacted before Dr. Hathal’s tenure. The IIUI President activated the Alumni office and established a network of distinguished alumni resulting in collaborative agreements and academia-industry linkages. He further said that a clear example of the same efforts is the visit of Saudi Industry Specialists a few days ago where they gave job letters to 21 students of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology on the spot after interviews. The spokesperson said that the entire university has appreciated the services of Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, expressed satisfaction on his performance and expressed gratitude for his efforts.

 

DR. HATHAL HOMOUD ALOTABI VISITS BOOK CORNER INSTALLED FOR FACILITATION OF STUDENTS AT FEMALE CAMPUS

H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, Worthy President, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on the occasion of inauguration of computer labs funded by Saudi government at female campus, visited the book corner initiative by the Incharge Female Campus and Students Advisor Office at the entrance of Hazrat Maryam Block. According to details provided by the Students Advisor Office, the students will share books and have the opportunity to read some quality literature and outstanding work of renowned authors.

The initiative is taken in the light of the vision of President IIUI to provide ideal learning environment and exquisite facilities to the students .

On the occasion Dr. Hathal appreciated the initiative adding the book reading is a vital culture. He said universities have responsibility to promote the habit of book reading as it has significant importance in character building and learning. He hoped that this initiative would expand across the campuses.

 

IIUI EXTENDS LAST DATE FOR ADMISSION TILL JULY 29TH

In a meeting of the admission committee of International Islamic University, chaired by H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President, International Islamic University (IIU), it has been decided that the date of admission may be extended till Monday, July 29th, 2024.

The meeting was held at the new campus in which members of the meeting shared feedback pertaining to admission policy, extending the duration of the ongoing admission campaign Fall-2024, finalization of test schedules were discussed.
The meeting was also attended by Vice President (A&F), Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Vice President (Academics), Prof. Dr. Abdul Raheman, Vice President (R&E), Prof Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Director Generals, Deans, Students Advisors Male and Female Campuses, Director (A&E), In-Charge Finance, Director (IT) and other relevant officials.
The members gave valuable feedback regarding making an effective policy of admissions which was devised in two parts to attract more students and a complete process was discussed to make it simple for the target audience. A present number of applications were also discussed during the meeting.
Dr. Hathal emphasized that students are the top priority and there should not be any ambiguity in the admission process, it must be simple and the candidates must be guided as much as they can be.
IIUI President also called for hard work and dedication saying that merit is the top priority across the university, while talented human resource would be encouraged to further excel. He hoped that all the concerned quarters would work unitedly.

 

DR. HATHAL HOMOUD ALOTAIBI, INAUGURATES COMPUTER LABS FUNDED BY SAUDI ARABIA

H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Monday, inaugurated the newly established Saudi funded software engineering, computer labs in the Faculty of Computing & Information Technology at male and female campuses of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) separately.

These Saudi Funded Labs have been equipped with 210 Computers.

In this endeavor, the Department of Software Engineering has been provided with 40 computers on each side. It includes computes AI oft Artificially Intelligent Software Lab at Female Campus)

and Aspire Software Engineering Lab at Male Campus. Similarly, Department of Computer Science 40 computers for each lab and same gadgets were provided for

NextGen Computer Lab at Female campus and

Digital Frontiers Computer Lab at Male Campus.

On the occasion, President IIUI, Dr. Hathal, said the inauguration of these latest labs equipped with the latest technology that are established with the cooperation of Saudi funding is an important step to strengthen our efforts which will enhance academic uplift and it will support the university’s mission to adopt modern educational trends. He thanked the Saudi government for the continuous support of IIUI.

He emphasized the importance of formulating a comprehensive strategy to meet the technological needs and cope with the upcoming challenges in the present era.

Talking about the strategic planning, he stated it is vital to address the university’s challenges and ensure its continued growth.

Dr. Hathal expressed optimism about the positive impact of these labs that will help students for their academic development.

The IIUI President stressed upon the faculty to utilize these facilities. Dr. Hathal reiterated his resolve that IIUI would keep providing a milieu of peace and high quality contemporary education integrated with teachings of Islam and latest trends of technology. He hailed the hard work of the faculty and staff to support the culture of research among the students, while he also assured of all possible support. He opined that Faculty of Computing would help in contributing to the progress of the university in the best manner.

During the visit, the Dean Faculty of Computing & (IT), Dr. Asmat Ullah Khan and Dr. Salma Imtiaz, In-Charge Software Engineering Department and other Departmental heads of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (IT) at male and female campuses provided a brief of the ongoing activities of students and faculty at campus.

Dr. Asmatullah, Dean of the Faculty said that the initiative of the IIUI President to facilitate the students and faculty members is our prime objective. He thanked the IIUI President for his keen interest in the solution of the problems of the IIUI students as well as he vowed that it will be ensured to provide an ideal friendly environment to students. On the occasion, the officials also shared the feedback on providing logistic and administrative support by the university administration.

Later, The IIUI President also visited labs for Bio Informatics department where 50 computers from Saudi fund are given to the Department.

 

SAUDI HIRING TEAM FOR CIVIL ENGINEERING POSITIONS CALLS ON PRESIDENT IIUI

A Saudi delegation of industrial experts amid its visit to International Islamic University for on the spot hiring of the civil engineering related positions at university, called on President, IIUI , H.E. Dr Hathal Homoud Alotaibi at his office here at new campus.

 

The experts’ delegation included Mansou Al Shaghab (ACES Regional HR Manager) and Eng Ayman Tanninah (Branch Manager Tabuk Region.

 

The delegation appreciated the level of professionalism kept at the faculty and admired the talent of the students. They apprised the President of IIUI about their visit to Pakistan for hiring Civil Lab Engineers, Lab Technicians, Civil Surveyors, HSE Officers, Geotechnical Drillers.

 

The IIUI President briefed the delegation about accreditations of the Faculty of Engineering (FET) and Technology as well its achievements and recent activities. He said that the IIUI in the vision of newly implemented strategic plan, has been witnessing encouraging results and FET has been playing a pivotal goal in achieving the set goals such as academic excellence and industry, academia linkages.

 

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Khaz Zeb Jadoon , Dr. Rashid Farooq and other relevant officials.

The Department of Civil Engineering alumnus and other universities’ candidates provided CVs and the offer letters were awarded to the selected candidates.

Later, the delegation also visited the labs of the Department of civil engineering.

 

QURAN DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY HELD AT SFC IIUI

The Youth Development Centre of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and Jinnah Iqbal Forum, Islamabad, organized a Quran distribution ceremony featuring a translation in easy Urdu by Imtiaz Ahmed Madni, a globally recognized philosopher.

Rana Abdul Baqi, Chairman of Jinnah Iqbal Forum and Editor of South Asian Pulse, a research organization on South Asian and international affairs, attended the event. Prof. Dr. Taj Afsar, Dean of Usuluddin, Islamic Studies, congratulated Imtiaz Ahmed Madni for his valuable translation of the Quran, noting its appreciation by the government of Saudi Arabia.

Rana Abdul Baqi discussed the history and patterns of Quranic translation and emphasized the educational purpose of their work, which aims to promote peaceful co-existence among South Asian people and civilizations. He encouraged intellectuals to contribute their research to the organization.

Ms. Madiha Akram, Deputy Director, Youth Development Centre (SFC) at IIUI, also praised Madni’s translation efforts.

The ceremony, held at the auditorium of the Student’s Facilitation Center at IIUI’s New Campus, was attended by numerous male and female officers and employees. 150 Urdu Translated copies of the Holy Quran and 150 Books of Ziarat at Madina were distributed among the participants.

 

PEC TEAM CALLS ON PRESIDENT IIUI

The visitation team of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) headed by Prof. Dr. Abdul Satar Shakir, Vice Chancellor Punjab Tianjin University of Technology, Lahore called on H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, Worthy President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) at his office.

The accreditation team embarked on a comprehensive assessment aimed at assessing the department’s adherence to rigorous academic standards, industry relevance, and compliance with accreditation criteria.

The visitation team member Umer Ejaz PEC / RO, Lahore, Vice President Adminstration and Finance, Dr. Abdul Raheman, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Dr. Khan Zeb Jadoon were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Satar, appreciating the arrangements of the faculty said that the IIUI FET team is working hard and it has a great potential to excel.

During the meeting,
sustainability of programs in the engineering sector were also discussed. The team also apprised of the PEC’s facilitation and regulatory mandate.

Worthy President, IIU apprised the team of the vision, mission, strategic plan and activities of the university. He said the IIUI,in the light of strategic plan working keenly for academia industry linkages and FET has progressed best in terms of academic excellence and PEC requirements.

Dr. Khan Zeb briefed about the alumni and graduates network and linkages of the faculty with the industry.

KOHAT UNIVERSITY DELEGATION VISITS IIU’S STUDENT FACILITATION CENTER

In a bid to replicate the success of International Islamic University’s (IIU) Student Facilitation Center (SFC), a delegation from Kohat University of Science and Technology visited the center on Wednesday. The visit, instructed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), aimed to gain valuable insights and learn from the experiences of IIU’s SFC.

 

Led by Vice President Academics, Prof. Dr. Abdul Raheman, the IIU team extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided a comprehensive briefing on the SFC’s workings and procedures. The briefing was attended by Director Academics, Syed Naved Ethisham, officials of the Academics and Examinations department, and the focal person of SFC.

 

The Kohat University delegation showed keen interest in the capacity-building programs offered by IIU’s SFC for faculty and staff, aligning with the vision of the center. They praised IIU’s initiatives for staff development and its exposure to optimal functioning, acknowledging that the visit provided valuable insights into the diverse functions and positive impacts of Youth Development Centers (YDCs).

 

Dr. Abdul Raheman hailed the visit as a significant step in the collaboration between the two universities, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices in student facilitation and development.

 

The IIUI Vice President said the visit marks the beginning of a new chapter in the partnership between IIU and Kohat University, aimed at enhancing student experiences and promoting academic excellence.
