Library Sections

  Acquisition Section
Collection development of the library is the key function of the Acquisition Section. The section deals with the selection and purchase of library books and subscription of periodicals and online databases. Moreover, the section seeks for donation and gifts to enrich the library collection.

  Technical Section
The Technical Section is responsible for the technical processing of the new books. Books are technically processed in this section before displaying on the racks for use of the readers.

  Circulation Section
Circulation Section is one of the core sections of the library and may be called as the face of the library. The section directly deals with the library patrons and involves in library membership, issue/return of the library books and clearance of library patrons.

  Reference Section
Reference Section answers reference queries of the library patrons and assists the patrons in searching and locating the required reading material. The section provides guidance regarding use of HEC Digital Library, IIUI subscribed digital resources and internet etc.

  Periodical Section
Periodical Section deals with newspapers, magazines, scholarly journals, newsletters, pamphlets, and brochures published by local and international organizations to provide information on the latest trends, events, products, theories and research.

  Book Bank
The Book Bank contains syllabus and text books which are issued to students for the whole semester. Multiple copies of text books are purchased in the Book Bank to facilitate the maximum number of the university students.

  IT Section
This section provides IT related services to the library patrons and staff members. The section is managing library automation process, digital library applications and also facilitating the library patrons through general computer lab, PhD computer lab and video conference facility etc.

  Sirah Section
The Sirah Section contains books about the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.). Almost 1700 Sirah books in various languages are available in the section. The major collection is in Arabic, English and Urdu languages; however, books in various oriental languages are also available in the section.

  Jinnah Corner & Pakistan Movement Corner
Jinnah Corner & Pakistan Movement Corner have been established to remember the struggle and sacrifices of the freedom fighters and Muslims of the subcontinent and to pay tribute to the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his companions whose courage and leadership brought us freedom, in the shape of Pakistan.

  Iqbal Corner
Allama Iqbal is the renowned poet, scholar and philosopher and known as the “Hakeem-ul-Ummat” and the “Mufakkir-e-Pakistan”. He is also known as the poet of the East and named as the national poet. Iqbal corner has been established in the centre/atrium of the library. Around 600 books written by/about Iqbal are available in the corner covering religious, political, social, cultural and other aspects of his teachings/philosophy.

  Binding Section
The Binding Section is responsible for the preservation of reading materials. The section is equipped with latest tools and equipments for repair/maintenance of the reading material.

  UNIRC
United Nations Information Resource Centre (UNIRC) was established in the Central Library, International Islamic University in 2010. A huge collection of UN reports, UN official records, UN statistical year books and UN journals/magazines are available in the UNIRC. It has almost 644 UN films, including 358 video resources on ‘UN in Action’ series. Click here to view the list of videos.
