US EMBASSY DELEGATION VISITS IIUI

A four-member delegation from the US Embassy in Islamabad’s Public Affairs section visited the International Islamic University Islamabad IIUI).The delegation included Catherine Fischer (Deputy Cultural Attache), Juan German (Assistant Cultural Attache), Zarqa Yousuf (Exchanges Specialist), and Usman Khan (Exchanges Specialist).

The delegation was greeted by Dr N B. Jumani (Vice President, Administration & Finance), Dr Munazza Yaqoob (Associate Professor of English and Founding Director of the Critical Thinking Forum), Mr Al Hasan (Assistant Director, Protocol Section), and faculty members. The delegation was briefed on the university’s academic programmes and administrative structure during a meeting in Dr. Jumani’s office.

The delegation emphasised the need for collaboration between Pakistani and American educational institutions to promote cultural and academic ties between the two countries.

 

The Exchange Specialists gave a presentation to students and teachers on exchange and networking programmes and awards offered by the US Embassy, such as the Fulbright Scholar Program, Humphery Fellowships, Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES), SUSI, UGrad, Sister2Sister Exchange Program, Women-to-Women Fellowship, and Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA).

Students and faculty were happy to attend this very informative session and asked pertinent questions to express their interest in the programmes. The delegation appreciated the efforts of the university to establish cultural and academic linkages.

Furthermore, the officials commended the university administration for hosting them and promised their support for the institution’s efforts to enhance educational standards.
