A SEMINAR ON TEACHING AND RESEARCH OF URDU LANGUAGE IN TURKEY HELD

A one-day International Seminar on “Teaching and Research of Urdu Language and Literature in Turkey: Trends and Prospects” was held here at library of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), which was chaired by Prof. Dr. Asman Belen Oz Jan , President of the Department of Urdu, Ankara University, Turkey. Mr. Olash Artash, Director, Younis Emre Institute, Lahore, participated as a special guest through video call.

Dr. Saira Batool while performing the duties of the moderator introduced the guests from the brotherly Islamic country of Turkey and explained the aims and objectives of the seminar. Other guests from Turkey, Ms. Elf and Ms. Emil, Lecturer, Department of Urdu, Ankara University, spoke on the promotion of Urdu language in Turkey. They provided information about the Department of Urdu at Ankara University and also introduced articles, scholarly research activities and faculty on Urdu literature at Ankara University.
Dr. Humaira Ashfaq, Chairperson , Department of Urdu, Faculty of Languages and Literature (FLL), International Islamic University, Islamabad, welcomed the distinguished guests and participants on this occasion. Dr. Humaira introduced the Urdu department of the university and highlighted the scientific and literary activities taking place in the department. She also appreciated the services of the Urdu department of Ankara University in the promotion of Urdu language and literature.

Dr. Najiba Arif (Dean Faculty of Language and Literature) in her concluding remarks appreciated the trend of Urdu language and literature in Turkey and stressed on the importance and necessity of scientific and literary cooperation between the two brotherly Islamic countries and shared useful suggestions in this regard.
