VARSITIES NEED TO WIN SUPPORT OF SOCIETY TO RETAIN VITALITY, SAYS RECTOR IIUI

The universities need to win the support of the society to retain vitality in this different world now,  said Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector , International Islamic University (IIU) on Friday.

He was addressing an opening of series of workshops on research organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue of IIU.

Around 80 students from various departments of the University including Education, Politics & IR, History and Department of Pakistan Studies actively participated in the opening workshop on research methodology.

While addressing the opening session of the first workshop Dr Masoom Yasinzai, Rector, IIU emphasized that quality research is the need of the hour. Referring to the advancements and contemporary requirements, he said in this competitive world such research activities must be promoted in the University. He opined this series of workshop will address all the difficulties that the researchers in Pakistan encounter while expressing their thoughts and conducting research activities. He added that the resource persons of the workshops would thoroughly discuss research design, review of literature, formulating research questions and hypotheses, collection of information and analysis. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai lauded efforts of IRD and Faculty of Social Sciences, IIU for jointly holding the first workshop of the series.

The resource person, Dr. Qandeel Abbas of School of Politics and International Relations discussed dimensions of research, making research proposals, data collection techniques and research ethics.
