A PhD PSYCHOLOGY DEFENSE CONDUCTED

A PhD defense of Mr. Shakir Iqbal, a PhD scholar in Psychology was held here at Department of Psychology of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).

The scholar defended his thesis titled Attachment in Clinical Supervision: Relationships between Attachment Styles and the Supervisory Working Alliance under the supervision of                    Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily, Professor of Psychology.

Moreover, prior to the public defense, the thesis was sent to two distinguished external examiners namely   Professor Dr. Louise McHugh from Ireland and Professor Dr. Ghazala Rehman from UK for foreign evaluation. After receiving the external evaluation reports the PhD defense of the student was arranged.

According to psychology experts at the department, he has extensively studied the clinical supervision for the first time in Pakistan and this will beneficial for the clinical psychologist act as a supervisor. In this research work the scholar has explored the link between attachment style and therapeutic alliance which is an important and essential part of psychotherapy.
