DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES HOLDS SEMINAR ON “TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH”

The Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences (FBAS), International Islamic University Islamabad organized a one day seminar on “Translational Research” at Allama Iqbal Auditorium Faisal Masjid Campus. Addressing to participants of seminar, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI encouraged and urged students to utilize such events as means to foster stronger and productive research collaborations, linking different institutes for better public health outcomes.

Dr. Draiweesh appreciated the efforts of Department of Biological Sciences for providing this research platform to highlight the findings from research and transferring the technology from laboratory to clinic and to the industry for human health and well-being.

The keynote speaker Dr. Naseer Ahmed (M.B.B.S, Ph.D), Department of Cardiological Surgery, University of Verona, Italy delivered an informative lecture on Translational Research. Dr. Naseer addressed the original investigations in the broad fields of laboratory, clinical, and public health research.

Dr. Shahzad Hussain, Chief from National Institute of Health Islamabad focused on the interdisciplinary and cross disciplinary scope of translation research, he said that it reflects both the excellence of faculty researchers and the vital interaction between clinical and basic science investigators who address major national and international helath care issues. It keeps researchers up-to-date on significant biomedical research from all subspecialties of therapies.

Dr. Sobia Tabassum, Chairperson, Department of Biological Sciences, FBAS, IIUI also addressed on the occasion. At the end university crest was presented by Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh to the guest speakers of the seminar, while it ended with an interactive session of poster and model exhibition.
