President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has called upon the researchers of the Muslim world to conduct research which must be relevant to the requirements of society.
This he said during his visit to the labs of various departments at male and female campuses. Dr. Al-Draiweesh visited department of bio informatics and bio technology, Environmental Sciences, physics, at male campus, the Centre for Advanced Electronics & Photovoltaic Engineering (CAEPE) and also visited labs of bio informatics and bio technology at female campus.
During his visit at environmental sciences and spintronics lab of department of physics, the IIUI President was accompanied by Dr. Arshad Zia, Dean Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences, Ibrar Shinwari, Chairman Environmental sciences, officials of Bio Informatics and Bio Technology (BI&BT), Physics and other relevant officials, where he was apprised regarding the ongoing activities in the labs.
The IIUI President also visited Centre for Advanced Electronics & Photovoltaic Engineering (CAEPE) where he was briefed by Principal Investigator & Executive Director, Engr. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed that the center was fully focused to create knowledge and develop the cross-disciplinary market-driven research focused on the applications of Advanced Electronics & Photovoltaic Engineering via processes, components and systems. Upon briefing, IIUI President agreed that this research and development was important for the convergence of energy, photonic and nano-scale electronics avenues for economic growth in the country.
He was further told that overall objective of the Centre is to establish a sustainable source of research training for developing qualified m
anpower with a focus on future requirements, and facility access services in these field that are applied to the national needs.
Later, IIUI President visited female campus inspected Labs of the departments of BI&BT including Geneteic Engineering Lab and other labs of the department. He was briefed their about the activities by the female Campus Director Farkhanda Zia, Chairperson BI&BT Dr. Asma Gul, Chairperson, Department of Computer Science & Software Engineering , Dr. Tehmeena Amjad. Deand FBAS also briefed the President about performance of the departments at female campus.
