INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH URGED IN IIUI WORKSHOP

Universities are known for research and prevailing circumstances demand an interdisciplinary behavior in the research, while social scientists and Islamic studies scholar must work together on research projects to come up with valuable solution to the issues being faced by society.

These views were expressed by Rector, IIUI, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai in the concluding ceremony of a three-day workshop titled “Qualitative Research Methods and Current Trends in Islamic Studies”.  The event was organized by the Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) and Department of Comparative Religion of the university.

The IIUI Rector said that IIUI is encouraging interdisciplinary research and internationalization for academic excellence. He furthered that IIUI’s strategic plan is being hailed by the government and research is top priority of the university.

The workshop’s resource persons included Associate Professor of St. Thomas university, Canada, Dr. Amir Jamal, Chairman, Department of English, IIUI, Dr. Ayaz Afsar and Dr. Jamil Asghar Jami of NUML.

The IRD’s Executive Director, Dr Husnul Amin said on the occasion that the workshop was aimed at founding solution of the societal issue through research in science and Islam.

At the end, The IIUI rector awarded course completion certificates to the participants.
