DR. TAHIR KHALILY PRESENTS PAPER IN INT’L CONFERENCE AT KSA

IMG_3312Dr Muhammad Tahir Khalily, Director Academics & Chairman Department of Psychology, International Islamic University Islamabad Pakistan participated in international psychology conference “Identity and The Challenges of the Times” organized by Imam Muhammad University, Riyadh Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dr. Khalily also presented his scientific paper titled “Parental autonomy granting behavior and Ego identity formation of adolescents in a Muslim Society”.

Dr. Khalily, in his paper covers the broader aspects that Identity formation is a developmental task that is acquired through appropriate adult reactions and training grounded in religious and cultural norms in general and particularly in the Muslim society context.IMG_3319

He very briefly highlighted that parenting manners that promote individuation and autonomy in the context of Muslim cultural and religious milieu develops healthy functioning in adolescents. Dr. Khalily’s paper further describes that parental autonomy granting behavior facilitates in identity development and assists in optimal functioning in adolescents which is important for the constructive psychological and social development of adolescents.

Moreover, he added in his paper that adolescents with healthy autonomous functioning develop enhanced perspective-taking and can envisage the consequences of their thoughts and actions in a better way. Dr. Khalily’s effort and research paper was highly appreciated and honored that discussed important issues and matters.
