IQBAL’S THOUGHTS REVISITED AT IIUI

iqbal 1Allama Muhammad Iqbal, through his poetry, motivated the Muslims especially the youth, for hard-work, research and revival of Muslim legacy.

This was the crux of an evening titled “Iqbal’s thoughts & Muslim Ummah” organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) at Faisal Masjid campus of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI).

 Vice Chancellor Mohi-Ud-Din Islamic University, Dr. Zia ul Haq was the keynote speaker who noted that message and thoughts of Iqbal are a solution to solve core problems of the Muslim world.

 The event which was hosted by President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, was attended by famous scholars and educationists including former Vice Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Nazir Saangi, varsity scholars, Deans, faculty members, IRD officials, faculty members of National University for Modern Languages and AIOU.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh noted that Iqbal’s relation with the Holy Quran was ineffable and his message is as contemporary as it was 80 years ago. He told that such events, under the banner of IRD, would be held every month, and next program would discuss the past, present and future of university which will be addressed by Justice Khalil ur Rehman (former IIUI Rector) who would also discuss varsity’s lofty goals and objectives.iqbal 2

 Dr. Al-Draiweesh said Allama Iqbal’s thoughts discuss revival of the Muslim’s prestige. He maintained that we have to act upon his message which reflects the teachings of Islam. The IIUI President added that constructive dialogue to explore his thoughts provides a base to solve the contemporary problems in the light of Quran and Sunnah.

Dr. Zial ul Haq and Nazir sangi also paid rich tributes to Allama Iqbal and urged the youth to follow his message which they said would lead towards an avenue of revival of Islamic values and success.

Dr. Habib ur Rehman Asim, a veteran IIUI faculty member and renowned scholar, also spoke on Iqbal and his relationship with Quran, and highlighted main points of his message to Muslim Ummah.
