Faculty of Social Sciences Launches Monthly Research Colloquium Series

The Faculty of Social Sciences has launched a Monthly Research Colloquium Series to provide a platform for academic exchange and interdisciplinary dialogue. The initiative, introduced under the leadership of Dean Prof. Dr. Manzoor Khan Afridi, is part of the Faculty’s ongoing efforts to support research activity and collaboration across departments.

The idea for the series was proposed by Dr. Noreen Saher during internal consultations on enhancing academic engagement. The inaugural session was held in the Faculty Seminar Room.

The session featured a joint presentation by Dr. Rabia Ali and Dr. Noreen Saher, based on their recent Q1/W-category publication titled Erotic Capital and Gendered Vartan Bhanji in Pakistani Higher Education: Navigating Patriarchal Landscapes for Career Advancement. Published in the International Journal of Leadership in Education – Theory and Practice (Routledge), the study explores gender, social networks, and career pathways within academic institutions.

In addition to sharing their research findings, the presenters discussed their collaborative process and outlined steps involved in developing and publishing scholarly work. They also addressed strategies for academic contribution and interdisciplinary research.

Faculty members and students from various departments attended the session. The Faculty has announced that the colloquium will be held monthly, reaffirming its commitment to encouraging research dialogue and academic development across the university.
