DR. AL-DRAIWEESH PARTICIPATES IN IIRO RAMZAN PACKAGE CEREMONY

President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh has appreciated International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO)’s Ramadan Package. He participated in ceremony of IIRO where Ramzan package was sent to the 13 cities of the country.

The ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for religious affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, IIRO Regional Director Abduho Utain, Defense Attaché  of Saudi Arabia Nawaf Al-Malki and other renowned personalities. The package contained grocery  items and other necessary food items.

Federal Minister said on the occasion that Pakistan gives immense importance to its ties with Saudi Arabia and said that KSA’s cooperation is commendable.

Meanwhile, Dr. Al-Draiweesh called on Abdhu Utain and thanked IIRO for its continuous support to the ones who needed help and assistance.

 

 

 

SEMINAR ON CAREER COUNSELING, FYPs & ROBOTICS

Department of Electrical Engineering of Faculty of Engineering and technology (FET) organized a seminar on carrier counseling, introduction to robotics and embedded systems, while necessary information for choosing Final Years Projects and MS/PhD scholarship opportunities in Pakistan and abroad discussed in the activity.

Engr. Hafiz Muhammad Nabeel an Electronics Engineering professional from NED University, Karachi, provided pertinent information, by sharing his personal experiences and tips to pursue set targets in future.

The session was termed constructive by the participants, while the speaker motivated students, and enhanced their desires towards accepting challenges and letting them know about outcome of their hard work.

 

IIUI PRESIDENT EMPHASIZES ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

President International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh has stressed that a balance of quality and quantity must be maintained in pursuit of academic excellence.

This he said while addressing the meeting held for admissions at new campus of the university. It was attended by varsity vice presidents, DGs, Deans m Directors and Head of Departments.

The President said that growing interest of Pakistani and other Muslim parents across the world in IIUI, demands that we must further improve the standards of education and research at the campuses. He advised that process of enrollment and eligibility be made more transparent and strict to have best students at the male and female campuses. He urged for the unity among the varsity population and desired that university’s message of promotion of peace and goals of internationalization must be kept in mind by all the officials to make IIUI in the leading ranks of the renowned educational institutions.

 

IIUI SEMINAR: RELIGIOUS SCHOLARS DECLARE SUICIDE ATTACKS, ARMED STRUGGLE AGAINST STATE ‘HARAM’

PRESIDENT MAMNOON CALLS FOR ULEMA ROLE FOR COUNTER NARRATIVE AGAINST TERRORISM

President Mamnoon Hussain has hailed the narrative and decree  against terrorism and extremism by renowned Muftis and religious scholars of all schools of thought in which it was  unanimously declared that suicide attacks, armed insurgency against the state and the use of force in the name of enforcing Shariah was ‘Haram’ or forbidden in Islam.

The decree, and communiqué signed by 31 famous religious scholars were presented at the concluding ceremony (which was chaired by President, Mamnoon Hussain) of a seminar on “Reconstruction of Pakistani society in the light of Madina Charter” and announcement of ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan’ (Message of Pakistan), organized by Islamic Research Institute (IRI) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) at Faisal Masjid campus.

In the decree, scholars appreciated the armed forces for efforts against the enemies of nation and supported the operations initiated by the military leaderships against the evil elements. They also rejected the use of religion for self projection.

The seminar participant including Muslim scholars, experts, researchers and intellectuals agreed on 22-point communiqué in pursuit of a national narrative to address the challenges being faced by Pakistan.  It was agreed in the communiqué that universities are meant to teaching and nurturing of youths and have nothing to do with hatred, militancy, violence and extremism.

It called for administrative steps and intellectual efforts against the extremism and violence. It was agreed that universities would discourage negative mindset and any sort of activity related to extremism should not be tolerated. The participants agreed that no organization or sect would be allowed to incite hatred or violence against the other.

In his address, President Mamnoon said that political instability and imbalanced economic policies and contemporary challenges have caused intolerance, racism, sectarianism and extremism in the societies which can be countered through a well devised narrative, an agreed strategy and with positive role of Ulema.

He called for provision of equal opportunities to the youths and termed the youths as a precious asset of nation.

President Mamnoon Hussain stressed the need for reviving the spirit and principles embodied in the Charter of Madina for a welfare state.

The President said the Madina Charter laid down universal principles of justice and equality for all mankind. He said state is the pivot around which revolve the aspirations of people. Mamnoon Hussain said it was this aspiration and the light of those guiding principles for welfare state in the Madina Charter that led to successful culmination of struggle for Pakistan.

He said Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal followed the very principles as were propounded by the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Mamnoon Hussain said the secret behind our future development and prosperity lies in practicing these principles.

Terming the declaration as historic step taken by scholars, the president said he had also been trying to persuade Ulema to give the people a narrative against terrorism and extremism but the IRI took lead in this regard.

The seminar was also addressed by Chairman, Higher Education Commission , Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed who opined that extremism,  lack of  attitude of co-existence and lack of capacity building measures for youths were the leading challenges of hour. He added that universities have started to play role in the Pakistan society as numbers of PhDs have commenced to increase and inductions of students on campuses have doubled. He said that such seminars are pr-requisite to build a narrative against extremism.

Dr. Masoonm Yasin zai, Rector IIUI presented the communiqué of the seminar and said that the participants have agreed that practical steps against killings, brutalities, terrorism, militancy and hatred be taken. He hoped that the narrative achieved by the seminar would help in reconstruction of Pakistani society.

President, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh said that IIUI was committed to build Pakistani society on the lines of the society built by PBUH in madinah. He maintained that university was keen to disseminate brotherhood, peaceful coexistence, through seminar, moots and dialogue sessions and this seminar was a part of an effort to build a counter narrative against extremism as per directions of President of Pakistan and Chancellor of the university.

Later, The IRI council conferred an award upon Mamnoon Hussain in recognition of his political and social services, the IRI council hailed his untiring efforts for the betterment of society.

The seminar was also attended by Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman, Mufti Rafi Usmani, Maulana Hanif Jalandhari, Mufti Muhammad Naeem, Maulana Abdul Razzak Sikandar, Allama Riaz Hussain Najafi, Maulana Muhammad Yasin Zafar, Maulana Ghulam Muhammad Sialvi, Maulana Zahid Mahmood Qasmi Mufti Mahmoodul Hassan Mahmood, Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani and others.

 

 

IIUI HOLDS 4TH MEETING OF BASR

The 4th meeting of Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) of year 2017 was held on Thursday under the Chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President, IIUI.

It was also attended by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan, Vice President Academics, Prof. Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik, Vice President (Higher Studies & Research), Deans, Heads of departments and other relevant officials including Director Academics Dr. Tahir Khalily.

The Board discussed and analyzed synopsis of thesis of MS and PhD students’ from various Faculties and issued key instructions for students regarding research work.

IIUI Presidents stressed on the occasion that research must be top priority and students must be encouraged to work on constructive research projects.

 

IIUI LAUNCHES WEBSITE FOR ALUMNI

International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has launched a website for the Alumni which was inaugurated by the varsity Rector, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh at male campus.

The website is designed for a linkage between the university and its graduated students, while it will be operated by the Alumni office. The launching ceremony was also attended by the varsity Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors, faculty members and Hafiz Muhammad Anwar, Incharge Alumni office.

The website will provide updates regarding opportunities, developments, collaborations and other mentionable material for the Alumni, while they will be able to be in touch and update about their positions being the varsity ambassadors.

It is pertinent to mention that around 38,000 students have acquired their degrees since inception of IIUI and the varsity has served as many as 73 countries in terms of providing education to youth.

 

SARDAR YOUSAF, IIUI PRESIDENT DISCUSS MUTUAL COOPERATION

Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf and President, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Prof Dr Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh discussed issues of mutual interest in a meeting at new Campus of the university on Wednesday.

Matters pertaining to expanding mutual cooperation and holding Mehfil e Shabeena at Faisal Masjid in the last decade of Ramadan came under discussion. Affairs related to religious education and role of educational institutions in maintaining peace and stability in society were also discussed in the meeting.

Talking to President IIUI, Dr Ahmed Yousif al Draiweesh, the Minister lauded the role of IIUI in promoting interfaith harmony. He said that university was arranging constructive dialogue sessions, moots and it was playing key role in disseminating Islam’s true message of peace and tolerance.

Dr Al-Draiweesh said educational institutions play significant role in curbing violence and IIUI is committed to this cause. He apprised the Minister regarding recent conference organized by IIUI on “Role of Media in prevention of extremism” which was appreciated across the world. He also thanked the minister for his continuous support and cooperation to IIUI.

 

IIUI PRESIDENT CONDUCTS SURPRISE VISITS

International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) President, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh conducted ‘surprise visits’ to various departments of the varsity faculties where he reviewed and inspected the process of final examination.

On the occasion, IIUI President was accompanied by the Dean Shariah and Law, Dean Faculty of Ussul ud Din, Dean Social Sciences, head of the departments of faculties conducting final exams and other relevant officials.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh urged that students be provided every possible facility for quality education. He hailed the departments to maintain best decorum in the examination halls. He opined that students be given opportunities to excel their mental and physical abilities and they must be prepared in the shape of best, harmonious and balanced personalities. He appreciated the hard work of the students and wished them luck.

Later, IIUI President sat with the teachers fraternity in presence of Vice President HS&R, Deans and discuss academic issues. He directed for an urgent session to discuss and solve main issues being faced by various faculties.

 

DISSEMINATION OF QURAN TEACHINGS VITAL FOR PEACE, SAYS FIRST LADY

First Lady, Mahmooda Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday urged for dissemination of teachings of Quran while terming this deed vital for peace and stability in the societies.

She was addressing a certificate distribution ceremony of Hifz e Quran and Tajweed course organized by centre of Quran teachings (Dar ul Munera) of International Islamic University (IIU) at Faisal Masjid campus.

First Lady said that ignorance and cruelty can be defeated by acting upon the teachings of Islam. She furthered that misconception had been created against Islam and it had been wrongly associated to terrorism and extremism which she said must be discouraged and world be provided true message of Islam and its teachings of peace.

She hailed IIUI for holding the program where female students had opportunities for hifz e Quran, tafseer and tajweed. She said that IIUI was rightly providing education to the youths which was according to the contemporary circumstances and Islamic teachings.

Mrs. Mehmooda Mamnoon Hussain expressed happiness that the course was also being joined by foreigner students studying at the female campus of the university. She thanked Mr. Mehmood Al-deeb for his endowment of centre for Quran teachings (Dar ul Muneera), Mr. Al-Deeb is the member of Board of Trustees and he has endowed this centre to the female campus of the university.

First Lady also distributed souvenirs among the students who took positions in Hifz ul Quran, Translation of Quran, Seerat un Nabi (PBUH) and Tajweed categories of the course.

Earlier, the ceremony was also addressed by Rector, IIUI, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai who said that IIUI was keen to produce human resource who would be example of harmony and would become sources of brining moderation in the society.

He furthered that university produces engineers, researchers, experts, and scientists who can bring positive change in the society with a blend of Islamic teachings. The IIUI Rector maintained that university, through its students and activities was keen to disseminate Islam’s message of peaceful co-existence and global peace.

Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, in his speech on the occasion said that teaching and education of Holy book was a precious deed and university has a hallmark that since its inception IIUI has been working for education and teaching of Quran.

He furthered that department of tafseer and Quran teachings was dedicated to disseminate teachings of Hoy book and told that it always remained a well versed centre for education of Quran. He felicitated the students on completion of course and thanked IIUI Vice Chancellor, Mr. Mamnoon Hussain for his special interest in the matters and development of university.

 

IIUI ANNUAL SPORTS: SHINNING FEMALE PLAYERS AWARDED WITH PRIZES

The shining female players of the year 2017 of Female Campus of International Islamic University, Islamabad were awarded prizes, shields and certificates who showed their outstanding performance in annual sports competitions 2017.

The Faculty of Social Sciences clinched best faculty award and successfully defended its honor to be the champion of the year 2017by securing top points in competitions, while Azra Hayat student of FSS declared best athlete player of the year 2017.

 

Dr. Bashir Khan Vice President Academics graced the prize distribution ceremony as chief guest, while it was also attended by Students’ Advisor Female Ms. Asma Mansoor, Ms Nadia Mukhtar Assistant Sports Officer, faculty members and students who took positions in various sports competitions.

The sports gala had number of sports competitions including Basketball, volleyball, badminton, tug of war, table tennis, lawn tennis, futsal, cricket and many other athletics activities. While addressing the students Dr. Bashir Khan congratulated prize winner students and encouraged them to excel their abilities and take part in sports and other co-curricular activities enthusiastically.

 

He lauded the role and efforts of sports directorate for providing best atmosphere to students and appreciated the performance of students who shinned in different sports competitions in different universities and earned honor for university. Dr. Bashir also stressed students to focus their studies as harmonious life leads to prosperity and satisfaction; he also advised them to refrain from negative tendencies of attitude.

 

In her welcome address, Ms Asma Mansoor appreciated the efforts of university sports staff particularly Nadia Mukhtar for her matchless contributions. She also admired the zeal of the students and lauded the preparation of players who very enthusiastically took part in different games.

Ms Asma emphasized students to actively participate in sports and co-curricular activities while appreciating the arrangements made by the administration to make sports events a success.

She also gave detail account of achievements of IIUI students in different competitions held across the Pakistan during the academic year 2016-17.
