A two-day Training of Trainers workshop titled “Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Peacebuilding, Social Reconstruction and Reconciliation” concluded at the Nisar Fatima Institute of Seerah and Women Studies, Johar Town, Lahore.
The event was organized by the International Center of Excellence for Seerah Studies, Islamic Research Institute (IRI), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and the National Center for Seerah Studies, Jamia Muhammadi Sharif, Chiniot.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, graced the concluding session as chief guest. Notable guests of honour included Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nizam Uddin, Former Chairman HEC Punjab; Mr. Ahmar Bilal Soofi, Senior Advocate Supreme Court; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younas Rana, Vice Chancellor UVAS and University of Narowal; and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Chaudhary, Former Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha.
Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq, Director General of IRI, highlighted the workshop’s objectives, emphasizing the relevance of Seerah in addressing contemporary challenges. He shared that over 40 participating faculty members from various universities were grouped by theme to present actionable recommendations on leadership, governance, social justice, education, interfaith harmony, and more.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ahmar Bilal Soofi stressed the need to align legal and institutional frameworks with the Prophet’s Seerah for building a just and ethical society. Prof. Dr. Younas Rana advocated embedding Seerah teachings into academic culture, while Prof. Dr. Akram Chaudhry underscored the importance of intellectual and research-based responses to modern ideological challenges.
In his keynote address, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the government’s renewed commitment to Seerah Chairs and Islamic scholarship, stating that the recommendations presented would be integrated into future policy frameworks. He reaffirmed the government’s support for strengthening Seerah-based academic initiatives.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Sahibzada Qamar ul Haq, President of Jamia Muhammadi Sharif, who praised the meaningful engagement of scholars and reaffirmed the significance of Seerah-centered discourse in shaping Pakistan’s intellectual and moral direction.
