
The Islamic Research Institute (IRI) of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) held a lecture titled “Sirah of the Holy Prophet in Arabic Literature: Between Poetry and Authentic Historical Documentation” at its Faisal Masjid campus as part of its Sirah Lecture Series.
Prof. Dr. Riffat Ali Al-Syed, Chairman, Department of Literature, Faculty of Arabic, IIUI, delivered the keynote address. He discussed the representation of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in Arabic poetry and literature, focusing on the role of these sources in the historical documentation of Sirah.
The lecture highlighted how poetic and literary texts have preserved aspects of the Prophet’s life and character. Dr. Riffat also reflected on the value of these sources in the broader field of Sirah studies.
Scholarly remarks were also shared by Prof. Dr. Tahir Mansoori, former Vice President (Higher Studies and Research), and Prof. Dr. Fazlullah, Dean, Faculty of Arabic, IIUI. They emphasized the role of literature in Islamic history and the continued relevance of Sirah in contemporary scholarship.
Sahibzada Muhammad Qamar-Ul-Haq, President of Jamia Muhammadi Sharif, Chiniot, concluded the session with a vote of thanks, appreciating the speakers and participants for their engagement.
