IIUI’s Department of Bioinformatics Accredited by NCEAC

The Department of Bioinformatics at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FCIT), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), has been accredited by the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC). This is the first accreditation of a bioinformatics program among universities in the twin cities.

The accreditation process was led by Dr. Muhammad Khalil Afzal, Associate Professor at COMSATS Wah, who served as the convener. The department met the evaluation criteria set by NCEAC, including qualified faculty, laboratory infrastructure, curriculum design, and academic environment.

This development aligns the Department of Bioinformatics with national quality standards and enhances its capacity to train graduates in computational biology and related fields. The accreditation reflects the joint efforts of FCIT faculty, administration, and support staff under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Asmat Ullah Khan, Dean FCIT.
