IIUI Teacher Education Students Conduct Lawn Maintenance Activity at Female Campus

Students of the Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), carried out a lawn maintenance activity at the D Block lawn of Fatima tuz Zahra (Female Campus). The initiative aimed to foster environmental awareness and promote a sense of shared responsibility among students.

Under the supervision of Dr. Humaira Akram, Assistant Professor, the B.Ed Elementary Education students engaged in a range of tasks including cleaning the lawn, watering plants, removing weeds, painting stones, decorating the entrance, and placing new planters. Students expressed that the activity strengthened their understanding of cleanliness, teamwork, and environmental care as part of their General Science course.

Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Incharge Faculty of Education and Chairperson Department of ELM, commended the students’ teamwork and encouraged them to remain actively involved in such community-oriented tasks. Dr. Zarina Akhtar, Assistant Professor and Incharge Quality Development & Higher Studies, also praised the initiative and emphasized the need for sustained environmental responsibility.

Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Assistant Professor and Incharge Programs, acknowledged the students’ efforts and shared suggestions for future activities, noting that such participation enhances students’ practical learning and collaborative skills. The event was also attended by Dr. Alina Raza, Incharge Academic Affairs, Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, Assistant Professor and Incharge Academic Affairs FoE, along with Ms. Shazia Bibi and Ms. Sehrish Niazi.

The activity concluded with a reflection session where students shared their experiences and reaffirmed their commitment to contributing towards a cleaner campus.
