IIUI President Approves Landmark Research Incentive Fund, Launches Scholarly Recognition Framework

Islamabad – In a landmark development for research promotion at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), President Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmad has approved the release of nearly Rs 21 million to honor faculty members who produced research and authored scholarly publications between 2017 and 2019. This long-awaited step reflects the President’s firm commitment to recognizing and rewarding academic excellence, with subsequent disbursements for the years 2020 onwards to follow in due course.

This initiative, driven by the vision and support of the President, has been made possible through the diligent efforts of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed (Vice President Research & Enterprise) and Dr. Mohammad Amir (Director ORIC), who meticulously worked on the proposals. The release of these funds marks a significant morale boost for IIUI’s research community and underscores the University’s dedication to fostering a vibrant scholarly culture.

In another forward-looking measure, President Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmad has also launched the IIUI Research Excellence Incentive Framework under his Initiative for Scholarly Recognition. This system is designed not only to recognize and reward quality research publications but also to inspire faculty members to enhance their research productivity and global standing.

Under the new framework, honoraria for journal publications have been set as follows:

W category: USD 100 (converted to PKR at the prevailing exchange rate)

X category: USD 80 (converted to PKR)

Y category: USD 70 (converted to PKR)

For single-authored papers, 100% of the honorarium will be awarded to the IIUI author. For multi-authored publications involving IIUI-affiliated authors, the amount will be equally distributed among all authors, regardless of position.

To ensure efficiency, the process for claiming incentives has been simplified: researchers will upload their publications to the IIUI Research Database, after which the Quality Assurance Directorate will verify authenticity. Verified payments will be disbursed promptly.

These measures reflect President Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmad’s unwavering commitment to nurturing a culture of academic excellence, supporting faculty achievements, and positioning IIUI as a leading research institution nationally and internationally. His leadership continues to translate into tangible benefits for the University’s scholarly community, setting a benchmark for higher education institutions across Pakistan.
