The Directorate of Student Affairs (Male) of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a meeting with visually impaired students, at the Seminar Room of the Faculty of Shariah and Law, A Block.
The session was chaired by Dr Saleh Sulaiman A Alghofaili, Advisor to the Worthy President IIUI on Student Issues and Hostel Matters. Dr H Ghufran Ahmad, Director Student Affairs (M), presented the welcome note and outlined the agenda of the meeting.
The discussion focused on the needs and concerns of blind students regarding inclusive education, assistive technology, and their rights within the university framework. A detailed panel discussion, moderated by Dr Ghufran Ahmad, Students Advisor and Dr Saleh Sulaiman A Alghofaili, saw active participation from students who shared their experiences and suggestions.
Dr Alghofaili emphasized the importance of implementing Higher Education Commission (HEC) policies concerning accessibility and special support for students with disabilities. He proposed several initiatives and assured full backing from the Worthy President of IIUI for measures benefiting visually impaired students.
Plans to organize a high-level seminar , in connection with the International Day of the Blind were also discussed. The Director Student Affairs announced that the event would be held with full institutional support and participation.
Dr Alghofaili appreciated the efforts of the Directorate of Student Affairs for arranging the interactive session and encouraged the students to strive for excellence. He also advised them to focus on projects related to development, rehabilitation, employment, and advancement for the benefit of society.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks and words of encouragement from Dr Saleh Sulaiman A Alghofaili.
