The Department of Environmental Science at the Female Campus of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with the Green Youth Movement (GYM) Club and the Directorate of Student Affairs, conducted a plantation drive to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by welcoming remarks from Dr. Rukhsana Tariq, Student Advisor. Dr. Sarah Amir, Focal Person of the GYM Club, and Dr. Syeda Maria Ali, Head of the Department, addressed the gathering, underlining the importance of plantation activities in tackling climate change and encouraging student engagement in environmental initiatives.
Led by Batch 28 of the Environmental Sciences department and supervised by Dr. Sidra Aman Rana, the drive resulted in the planting of 80 saplings, including rose bushes, citrus plants, and seasonal flowers. The activity was held at two campus sites: the main lawn of the Department of Environmental Science and the area outside Gate 3 of the Shared Block.
The initiative reflects IIUI’s ongoing efforts to involve students in campus greening activities and environmental stewardship.
