Faculty of Education Conducts First Workshop of Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at IIUI

Islamabad – The Faculty of Education (FoE), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), organized the first workshop of the Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Education (Batch III: 2025–26). The five-day academic engagement brought together eight postdoctoral fellows from universities across Pakistan for focused discussions, proposal development, and research refinement.
The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ research proposals, analytical skills, and alignment with IIUI’s vision of producing ethical and impactful scholarship. The opening session, conducted by Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, Incharge Academic Affairs, underscored the university’s commitment to fostering a dynamic research culture.


Throughout the workshop, the fellows presented their proposals and attended a series of specialized sessions conducted by distinguished facilitators. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology and Director ORIC, delivered a session on Outcome-Based Education. Dr. Muhammad Sherbaz Ali, Visiting Faculty at FoE, discussed the role of Artificial Intelligence in research, while Mr. Waseem Ahmed, Manager Training at NIDM–NDMA, spoke on disaster resilience through knowledge investment. Sessions on qualitative and quantitative research were conducted by Prof. Dr. Riaz Shad, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, NUML, and Dr. Abdul Rahman Saad AlAjlan from the Faculty of Education, IIUI, respectively.
Further, Dr. Zarina Akhtar, Dr. Munazza Mahmood, Dr. Asad Abbas Rizvi, and Dr. Azhar Mahmood conducted proposal review and feedback sessions, guiding fellows toward academic precision and scholarly clarity. Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Incharge Programs, also led a session on supervisors’ capacity building, while Dr. Fouzia Ajmal conducted a session on research report writing and IIUI’s report format.


Participants also visited the IIUI Central Library, facilitated by the Chief Librarian, where they explored academic resources and digital research tools.
The closing session, led by Dr. Azhar Mahmood, highlighted the progress of fellows and outlined the next phase of the fellowship, reaffirming IIUI’s focus on academic excellence, ethical research, and knowledge impact.
