CANDIDATES FOR THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR ORIC INTERVIEWED

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), along with Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza, Vice-Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Women University and Member of the IIUI Selection Board, conducted interviews for the position of Director, Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC).

Internal candidates—Associate Professors and Professors currently serving at IIUI—appeared before the panel to present their academic profiles, administrative experience, and strategic vision for leading ORIC. They were evaluated against the key requirements of the position, including demonstrated competence in research administration, innovation management, and industry collaboration. The assessment also focused on the candidates’ ability to enhance ORIC’s functions in research commercialization, grant facilitation, intellectual property management, and the promotion of an entrepreneurial ecosystem for faculty and students.

During the interaction, candidates outlined their relevant experience in academic quality assurance, program evaluation, and institutional development. The panel noted the competitive nature of the process and the preparedness of applicants to take on this leadership role. After completing the interviews, the panel finalized its recommendations and identified suitable contenders for the position. The appointment of Director ORIC will be made in due course, contributing to the strengthening of the Vice President (Research & Enterprise) portfolio.
