SHARIAH ACADEMY HOLDS SEMINAR ON WOMEN’S RIGHTS

Shariah Academy of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar for Dukhtran-e-Pakistan on “Shariah and Legal Perspective on Women’s Rights” in collaboration with universities Female Campus and National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) Pakistan held at Auditorium Fatima-tul-Zahra Block, Female Campus of the university.

Mr. Arif Anwar Baloch, Secretary National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) participated in the seminar as Chief Guest while Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Director General Shariah Academy, Dr. Faryal Ambreen In-Charge Dawah Center for Women (DCW), Dr. Sajida Jameel In-Charge Dar al Muneera, IIUI attended the seminar Secretary (NCSW).

Mr. Anwar addressing the seminar participants highlighted the role of women in nation building in the light of Islamic Civilization and said that women stand side by side with the men in all fields of the society he added that women can play a pivotal role to eradicate the prevailing unrest in the society. Secretary (NCSW) added that women have been given special attributes for dealing with challenges.

Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Director General, Shariah Academy, IIUI highlighted the role of women in the society and shared various examples of successful women. Addressing the participants Dr. Farkhanda Zia said that it’s our prime responsibility to act upon the teachings of Islam and by following the Sunnah of Muhammad (SAW) for attaining success and to play our due part to develop a peaceful society. She gave various examples from the lives of Muslim Women from history and motivated the students to follow them for a successful life. She added that taking care of others rights should be our motto and the way we can make our society peaceful as peaceful co-existence is possible only when we take care of rights of others.

Dr. Faryal Ambreen Incharge (DCW) also briefed the audience on ways to achieve success in life by following the teachings of Islam. Dr. Faryal shared the importance of women at home and in society in the light of Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (SWA) and told the seminar participants that over fourteen hundred years ago, Islam gave women basic rights.

Dr. Sajid Jameel, In-Charge Dar al Muneera Center said that Islam gave women basic rights but due to ignorance from Islamic teachings women of the present society are facing various issues pertaining to their basic rights in the society. It is important that women can play a fundamental role in educating the society with Islamic teachings.

The seminar was attended by a large number of faculty members and students from various departments of the university attended the seminar.
