Dawah & Islamic Culture

Islam occupies a fundamental position in the Islamic world, encompassing both religion and state. It is a basic component in politics, legislation and governance. To undermine itــ is to undermine the state. However, there are countries that have adopted intellectual doctrines as a creed and a system of governance, upon which the edifice of their state was erected.

Religion in the “west” had been taken out of the public sphere and reduced to a private and personal matter of no consequence. apostasy no longer signified rebellion. Colonialism was the method of spreading this new creed. contrary to the slogans of freedom and equality, War and mercantilism i.e., looting. Was the ubiquitous modus operandi.

The colonial system had survived into our modern times as the unobtrusive neocolonialism, which had taken roots and found allies in newly formed states, those allies helped disseminate the material philosophy and secularism in Muslim countries.

Out of all religions, earthly and divine, Islam was singled out as a detrimental threat that had to be eradicated. All resources and capabilities were harnessed and recruited to distort the image of Islam and to justify war against it, especially western political think tanks that had played a major role in maintaining/propagating this hegemony. Although the dawah to Islam depends on freedom of belief, and non-coercion and has affirmation of a great deal of Judaism and Christianity, and correction of the false, and completion of the incomplete, it is void of derogation and contempt for the rest of the revelations.

The Department of Da’wah and Islamic Culture is manifestation of the tolerance of Islam, and it is one of the practical aspects of the mission of the International Islamic University, as it receives students from different countries of the world, at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels, and provides them with the knowledge of Islamic and Arabic sciences and various other modern sciences, and makes them distinguished and specialized advocates of dawah and Islamic culture.

Their higher scientific capabilities and advanced skills, will also qualify them to employ modern technology in spreading Islam, calling for it with insight, and teach them ways to contribute to the development of society locally and globally, through renewable programs, which promote scientific research, cover the needs of the dawah and what is associated with it, and promote the approach of moderation, in light of the purposes of Islamic law.
