Sulaiman Bin Abdullah Aba Al-Khail – Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Science (SA-CIRBS)

Welcome to Sulaiman Bin Abdullah Aba Al-Khail – Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Science (SA-CIRBS), Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences, IIUI.

Sulaiman Bin Abdullah Aba Al-Khail – Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Science (SA-CIRBS) has been established in 2014 with a vision to promote interdisciplinary research and provide a forum to connect scientist/researchers from various disciplines such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology, Agricultural Sciences, Pharmaceutical/Medical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Plant/Animal Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Genetics, Nanotechnology, Biochemistry or any relevant subject to Natural Sciences. The envision SA-CIRBS has been established to provide a world class research institution with professionally sound curriculum and fascinating blend of educated and trained professional in diverse research areas. Considering the needs of 21th century, this centre aims at providing the faculty, students and community with state of the art knowledge in interdisciplinary research facilities to keeping pace with the globalization process and technologies. The SA-CIRBS mission is to prepare the students and community to shoulder the challenges of new millennium with honor, excellence, and competitive spirit.

It is widely accepted that many of the key contemporary scientific challenges are interdisciplinary. In spite of the current scientific progress, growing technical knowledge leads to fragmentation and specialization and over a long time has created almost insurmountable boundaries between disciplines. However, experience has proven that greatest gains/discoveries do not come from individual efforts, but from the interaction of suitable combination of knowledge created in various disciplines. Worldwide, there is a growing trend to forge bridges between scientific disciplines as researchers attempt to solve complex challenges via multidisciplinary and, affectedly, interdisciplinary approaches as ways to solve problems that occur from generation to generation.

The education we offer needs to prepare you for these challenges. You will be taught by a core team of experienced teachers as well as leading researchers from Natural Sciences.
