IIUI, GAMBIA VOW TO ENHANCE MUTUAL COOPERATION, IIUI TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS TO GAMBIAN STUDENTS

presidentInternational Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) and Islamic Republic of The Gambia have vowed to strengthen mutual cooperation through academic linkages.

The IIUI President, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh announced on the occasion of an MoU signing ceremony between both sides, SAID that IIUI would provide 10 scholarships to the Gambian students.

The MoU was signed on the occasion of the visit of the Gambian Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Aboubacar A. Senghore to IIUI .The Gambian Education Minister, who is also an IIUI Alumni, called on IIUI Rector Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and its President Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh and discussed issues pertaining to bilateral ties.

According to an MoU between both sides it was decided that IIUI would be providing 10 scholarships to the Gambian students and IIUI’s Shariah Academy would provide training to the judges of The Gambia.

It was also agreed on the occasion that bilateral exchange of delegations would be initiated and an IIUI delegation would visit Gambian educational institutions by the end of this year.

e007da3f-5c73-4998-be57-1c24e11db776gambaDuring the Gambian Minister’s meeting with IIUI leadership, he said that IIUI was like a home for him and he told that revisiting his memories at IIUI is a delightful feeling. He also showed delight on the development of MoU while saying that it would strengthen ties between his government and IIUI.

The Gambian minister also spoke to the on campus African students, where he lauded IIUI services and shared his old memories while terming IIUI as a source of his success in his life. He urged the African students to stay committed to studies and said that they were lucky to be at the hub of learning, the IIUI, which he said is one of the best educational institutions of Muslim world.

Later, a dinner was hosted by the IIUI President in honour of Dr. Aboubacar which was also attended by the Vice President IIUI Dr. Muhammad Munir Khan , Students Advisor Male Dr. Arshad Zia and other university officials.
