Board of Governors (BoG), International Islamic University Islamabad has approved the appointments of full professors in different departments of the university. The 78th Meeting of Board of Governors was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Masoom Yasinzai Rector IIUI in which appointment of 15 full professors of different disciplines were approved. The appointments were scrutinized and finalized by the previous Selection Boards of IIUI. Board also discussed various matters of the university to put innovations and up-gradations of plans and projects of the university. New induction of new professors at faculty of IIUI will strengthen academics wings which may improve the standards of education research activities. The faculty members expressed their felicity over induction of new professors and vowed that this would bring new wave of educational progress and increase of research activities.
Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President International Islamic University Islamabad congratulated Ms Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani on becoming first women Speaker of Provincial Assembly Balochistan. It is pertinent to mention here that Ms Rahila is also a Member Board of Governors (BoG) and Selection Board of IIUI. Ms Rahila attended 78th meeting of BoG where she was presented university souvenir and congratulated her by other worthy members also. They also acknowledged her contributions in educational and social spheres and wished her best of luck in future endeavors.
Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh President International Islamic University Islamabad visited faculty blocks (male), different departments and boys hostels to reviews overall arrangements.
In a meeting with deans and chairpersons of different department to review the arrangements of commencement of new semester Dr. Al-Draiweesh advised the concerned faculty members to take all necessary steps and measures to facilitate students in new semester particularly new admitted students at university. He also asked about the time table and classes allocation and other allied arrangements and directed that students’ matters should be our top priority as they are precious asset of the nation. President IIUI vowed to provide peaceful and learning environment at university and said students must be facilitated in all respect. Later on, Dr. Al-Draiweesh also visited male hostels where he directed to hostel administration to keep providing healthy and suitable milieu for hostel residents. He advised to take additional measures in regards to cleanliness, healthy meals and other necessary needs.
Dr. Samina Malik, Director Female Campus/ Chairperson Department of Education International Islamic University Islamabad has earned honor being awarded “Best University Teacher (2014) Award” by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan. She has been awarded in acknowledgement of her services in the domains of teaching and research in education, developing research-orientation amongst and for her social contributions as a teacher. Her candidature was finalized through a stringent screening at both the university and HEC.
The university has also acknowledged her contributions and dedication of her work in the field of administration, as Director Female Campus and in teaching & research as Chairperson of Department of Education & Deputy Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences as well. The university has deemed this achievement a great honour and encourages all faculty members to attain such laurels for the institution.
Dr. Samina Malik is first female faculty member of IIUI who received this award and she has number of achievements in her account as first female teacher who got post doc fellowship, in addition. Being the head of Department of Education, Dr. Samina has taken many significant steps to improve the capacity and proficiency of the department. She has been focal person of faculty development program of the university. Dr. Samina Malik is also the editor of the journal of the department.
Department of Electronic Engineering (DEE) in coordination with Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) International Islamic University Islamabad organized a lecture on “How to Publish Paper in High Impact Factor Journals”. Prof. Dr. Amir Hussain Professor of Cognitive Computing Science and founding Director of the Cognitive Signal Image Processing and Control Systems Research (COSIPRA) Laboratory University of Stirling Glasgow United Kingdom was guess speaker; he delivered comprehensive lecture to elaborate the methodologies to get research articles published in high impact Journals of the world. Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET), Dr. Muhammad Amir Chairman DEE/ Acting Director QEC, faculty members and research scholars attended the lecture.
In his lecture Dr. Amir gave useful tips and guidelines to researchers upon that they can make their research paper effective in lines with international standards. He also extended his experiences and expertise in particular field of research and shared new innovative ideas, topics and inventions to be researched. Dr. Amir threw light on different corners in the areas of computational intelligence for E-health & healthcare, modeling, simulation & control of complex systems and audiovisual signal processing. At the end of lecture, question/answer session was held and university shield was presented to the guest speaker.
A three member Malaysian delegation consisted of Professor Dr. Mashkuri Yaacob, Dr. Sheroz Khan and Professor Dr. Sulaiman Wadi Harun visited the Faculty of Engineering (FET) International Islamic University Islamabad (IIU). The delegation also visited the laboratories of Department of Electronic Engineering and the library of FET. They showed keen interest in the facilities at the Advanced Electronic Laboratory established by Islamic Development Bank’s scientific grant program. While visiting Central Library delegation members admired the facilities and access advance opportunities being provided for students.
They said IIUI is facilitating the students at campus up-to the mark and available opportunities for research and innovations are highly valuable. The Malaysian delegation was on a visit to attend International Conference on Intelligent System Engineering (ICISE), organized by FET and IEEE on 15-17 January 2016. The ICISE was a part of the activities under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and the International Islamic University (IIU) Islamabad. Dr. Muhammad Amir and Engineer Tila Muhammad facilitated delegation during the visit at IIUI.
President International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh called on Education Minister of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Issa at his office.
During the meeting, issues of mutual interests and cooperation between IIUI and Saudi educational institutions were discussed. Both sides agreed on exchange of educational delegations, while KSA minister assured of cooperation to IIUI in scholarships.
Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Issa lauded IIUI while saying that it is playing pivotal role for improvement in education. He said that IIUI is serving Muslim Ummah and it’s a vital educational institution of Muslim world.
On the occasion, Dr. Al-Draiweesh briefed the KSA Minister about upcoming conferences, seminars and workshops, while he also apprised him about university achievements and its faculties.
Thoughts of Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Maulana Jalal ud din Rumi on Monday were explored at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) in a lecture by Dr. Salih Yucel, Associate Professor, Centre for Islamic Studies and Civilization, Charles Sturt University, Australia .
The lecture titled “’ Rumi and Iqbal: The Marriage of Heart and Mind in Service of Education” was organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) of IIUI at Faisal Masjid campus.
“Both the great thinkers contributed through their prudent thoughts amid crisis time of Muslims” said Dr. Yucel while discussing similarities in works and message of Maulana Rumi and Allama Iqbal . He said that Islam is religion of peace and advocates love for humanity which one observes in the message of Maulana Rumi. He added that Allama Iqbal’s works contain the reflections of Prophet’s (PBUH) seerah. He urged that scholars must read both the great thinkers to explore about intellect and love for peace. He was of the view that education can be given through actions saying that visible example is life of Holy Prophet (PBUH). Talking about unity of Muslims, he said the Iqbal conveyed that Muslims must not be impressed from the concepts of West adding that Muslims have their own philosophy which is based on universality of their religion.
Dr. Yousaf Farooqi, former DG of university’s Shariah Academy also spoke on the occasion and termed Allama Muhammad Iqbal as a great student of Quran. He also lauded IRD for arranging a constructive lecture.
Dr. Sohail Hasan, Director Dawah Academy thanked the speaker and scholars for attending lecture and hailed role of IRD in arranging such activities.
The lecture was also attended by IRD high ups and scholars of university’s institutes, academies and faculties.
